I think having Avery hitting in the 2 hole will help Ozzie's walk rate.

Much better than his outing earlier this year in Norfolk, working down in the zone, not much hard contact (as mentioned earlier, the Tides first hit was an 0-2 breaking ball the hitter just threw the bat at and ended up with a placement infield single). Sprinkled in a few more change-ups than last time, but he was pretty formulaic, trying to get ahead with a first pitch fastball, typically followed by a second one then aiming to bury a breaking ball in the dirt. Was effective, although I thought the Tides played into his hands a bit (not aggressive early in the count, overly protective once behind). Left before he got into his jam it looks like.

Also caught some of the game last night. Blair did not look as good as his line - bounced a number of pitches (a couple well in front of the plate), some hard contact that found gloves in the outfield. Nice to see him get some good results, but I would be cautious about reading too much into it as a turnaround absent further evidence. Albies HR was a nice shot, he looked solid at the plate, taking some pitches. Not impressed with his arm today in warmups between innings at SS in terms of accuracy or strength, but it was warmups, so likely meaningless.

A lunch break that lasted 4.5 innings?!

I also wonder if Mo Cabrera will ever make his way back up to the big club. Many posi-braves got burned at the stake by saying his numbers are propped up by fake numbers...that his lack of Ks is alarming.

actually, those innings went really fast as Gwinnett swung at every pitch they saw and rolled it over to second or short.

On base eight times in two days. That'll work. OPS up to .741, which isn't stellar, but it ain't that bad, either.

Gohara placed on the DL for Mississippi. Still no official word on the injury other than Biloxi announcers supposedly calling it a muscle strain.

This is Biloxi's radio guy on twitter:

M-Braves manager Luis Salazar told me today that Luiz Gohara left Monday's game with a muscle strain in his left arm. Good news to hear.

I think the recent surge by Acuna has motivated him. He doesn't want to lose top dog status.

I'm at a loss as to why a muscle strain in the left arm of a LHed pitcher is good news. Forearm "strains" almost always lead to TJ, and a strained shoulder is a potential death sentence for a pitcher. Considering Gohara has already had a history of shoulder issues, this might be terrible news.

What other left arm muscle could he have strained that makes this good news?

That's unfortunate. He's been one of the prospects I've found most encouraging this season, both from a developmental standpoint and as I follow Coppolella's decision-making tenure.

Could be a bicep strain. I hope anyways

This happened right after the first time he swung a bat in competition this season. Wonder if that played into it at all.

Yeah neither team was drawing it out, only took an hour fifteen to get through the first four and a half

Not at all the start to the season anyone was hoping for when he had all the hype after spring training.

Didn't fried kinda fart along until July or so last year and all the sudden was lights out?

Not that I'm happy with that, but all three runs were in one inning. It's not horrible, but we shall see how the whole year goes.
