LOL, two 5ish ERA pitchers for the Marlins top prospect although he came in at 100 on BA's list.

Which is why I think this is the perfect time to trade Julio. If we can get a three-way deal, we can get a massive haul.

It's the perfect storm, but our GM acts like he wants to be a buyer in a sellers market. I sure hope that's a bluff.

I've never really understood the love for Cashner. One-and-a-half good seasons, but he is still young. Naylor is a big-time return.

How so? When average pitching is going for a high price and we have one of the best options on the market, and we announce we aren't trading him? Heck, Coppy even said he wouldn't trade Frenchy unless he got a overwhelming offer.
He seems to stuck on "we can be good by next year, so why trade assets?" Mode. We AREN'T gonna be good next year.
With the premium return for pitching in this market, the time is now. Maybe we don't get what we want and that's totally fine. I'm afraid he won't pull the trigger when we do get a great offer, because they want to sell the ballpark and make people think we could be good next year.

So the Fish have sent the Pads Paddack (can't remember where he fell but is a stud pitcher), Naylor (#1), Castillo (#6 throws 100) for Cashner, Rae and Rodney?!? good grief..

Im not sure what people see in Naylor. He's a long ways away and isn't really doing anything impressive. The guy may struggle to even play first base and is not lighting the world on fire with his bat to make up for it. He was overdrafted at 12 (49th ranked prosepct by Law, 61 by BA). He was a huge reach bc they wanted "lefthanded power."

He could end up being a solid prospect, but I don't think he's a big time return at all. Seems like a fair trade for both sides.

Castillo in the deal would change things....

Cashner has been as a solid pitcher since 2011. He's had a rough start to 2016, but he should be able to help them if he pitches anything like he has in the past 5 years. If they have reason to believe he casn, giving up Naylor is not a problem at all. What would you expect to get for a prospect in A that has a low ceiling and may be forced to DH if he even makes it to the majors?

Whats amazing to me is that we read a few well placed comments and think we know what the FO is thinking, planning and talking about.

The price of pitching won't go down after this deadline. The Market is set and nothing great coming on it for another year.. it will only get stronger.

True, but he's also a 1B at best and maybe a DH. There are 17 guys that are 19 in that league. Many of them are hitting better than hit and fit on the defensive spectrum. He's not even one of the top prospects in that league.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a superfan but there are reasons for optimism on his outlook. Its not raining turds as far as his projection goes as you seem to think. He is a nice get for two RAGINGLY mediocre pitchers. Not to mention Castillo...
