Chipper doesn't have the resources Clemens had to get shot up and just come back midseason without any real spring training or rehab assignment.

would stay close to playing shape just in case. I told my dad that I thought he would and would make an annoucement if the Braves looked to have a chance maybe around July. I thought he would announce it and go play a little in AA and AAA to get his legs under him and work on his swing. I thought he would be taking cuts all year. I believe Chipper is just the type that when he is done....he is done. WOuld it have been awesome to see a storybook ending to his career to retire only to come back and play for the Braves in August and the playoffs? Maybe even have a walk-off HR in the series!!! Wow!
If we need an outfielder why don't we just try to lure Hank away from his car dealerships. Murph is at the games any way. Why not let him give it a shot.
Sadly Chipper is done. I don't think he would have gone through that big fairwell tour last year if he wasn't sure. Plus there is no time for him to get game ready even if he wanted to. Our best hope is for Jason to make a swift recovery and be good to go in the playoffs.
Now Maddux I have no doubt could come back and be atleast a league average pitcher.
There is no outfielder we could legitimately get that can do anything more than what we have.
