I certainly agree that if the return is not adequate, we should hold.
It's pretty clear though that trading Justin this offseason has been Plan A (versus keeping him or extending him). If we fail to do so, I think it's a poor reflection on our front office. By no means a debacle, but it indicates a misread of the market either in developing our offseason plan or executing that plan.
Still time for this to play out this week though. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sense among those in the know is that while Padres-Rays deal involving Wil Myers is straight-up, players dealt could be on the move again.

I'm pretty sure everyone on here would bow down and kiss the feet the of Hart if he managed to swing Wil Myers for J-Up.
That would be pretty epic

If we were to be involved in what amounts to a 3-way trade with TB and SD, something involving Gattis would seem to make more sense. Myers to SD, Gattis to TB, SD sends prospects to ATL. Some other moving parts obviously, but that would make more sense to me than anything involving Upton.

Strong indications that Seattle is the third team in Rays-Padres Wil Myers trade scenario. Walker may end up in SD. Myers to SEA.

Sounds like Padres are getting Walker so they can give him to us for Upton.

Would you want Myers or Walker?

I might be stating the obvious here, but in terms of trade value . . .
5 years of Myers > 6 years of Walker > 1 year of Upton at $14.5m.
If we're getting Myers, it's going to take more than Upton from our end.
This could get interesting if the Pads do trade for Walker. SD has a strong and crowded rotation with Wiseler in the wings. It wouldn't shock me if they flipped Walker to us. I have this gut feeling Walker is who we want the most.
