It is really frustrating that our rebuild went significantly better than theirs did, but the money they have available to spend more than levels the playing field despite they making so many mistakes along the way.

You need young talent to supplement veterans, cant buy everyone. I'll assume they'll use some of that stupid money this winter.

Yeah alot of their young talent they had come up hasnt panned out, money is why they'll probably be our biggest rival going forward.

it will catch up with them. i don't think they've spent particularly wisely. it may give them a few division titles over Atlanta. but long-term, it isn't sustainable. when you spend, some of it better be really smart. i don't think they've spent any money super well. long-term success relies on good drafting and development. they've failed pretty massively there for years.

That trade was more about Diaz but taking on his contract, while giving up Dunn and Kelenic, is very stupid. You could sign Ottavano and sign a guy like DJL, for Cano's money while keeping your prospects but thats the rational thinking in me.

I’m glad they did the less rational thing they did.

I know what the trade was about. But people still thought he was going to really help them and he looks like he needs to retire

I figured cano would help this year maybe next. But I never applauded that trade. The Faillies did much better with Seattle

He was doing well at the end of April, but he's had a horrible May. Could be injury related, but I'd be glad to be wrong.

Also dumped Bruce and Swarzak contracts.

I’m completely unsurprised that cano has looked old though. I didn’t think the Mets did themselves much good this offseason.

    Phillies really upgraded.

    Speaking of trades.

I wonder how the Nats feel about the Eaton trade now.

I expect soroka and fried to regress some. And I expect aa to start some of Touki, Newcombe, Wright, Wilson in the summer to limit the innings on soroka and fried.

That said, if those guys perform like their peripherals and folty is 75 percent or better of last years folty I really like our chances.

We will get relief help in the rental market.

Over large samples I think the Phillies defense and pitching will fail them again.

    Giolito magically found something.
White Sox sold high on an oft-injured OF after a career year...acquired 3 pitchers, which i always heard was stoooooopid for a team to do, and it's worked out quite nicely for them.
