I wonder if the new CBA will allow for the trade of draft picks.

We gave up about $2.5 million of bonus pool money to win today. Hard to stomach that.

The end of the season was the most enjoyable stretch of baseball we have played since the beginning of 2014. I enjoyed the hell out of it, so if the cost is some bonus pool money, then so be it.

High draft picks are a silver lining - not a goal.

Meh, in a few years I am not likely to remember winning the last two games of a 93 loss season, but we lost out on the equivalent of an extra first round pick with the pool money we lost.

I agree. The past 2 weeks felt like we were in a playoff race. With as much talent as we have on the farm I can live with the 5th pick.

Since Tampa ended up winning, we actually would've picked second with a loss today. So today's win ends up forfeiting $3.4 million in pool money.

Since the trade deadline I said on many occasions that I thought we would end up around the 5 hole. I wish I was wrong, but just had a gut feeling.

Did you watch a minute of the dam game? This might be the most pathetic of the countless loser posts today. You want to follow a team that loses, follow the Yankees.

So in a few years, you think you'll remember who wound up as the No. 2 pick in the 2017 draft?

I agree with this. The game today (and the atmosphere) were amazing. Would have I preferred the second seed? Yes. But I'm not mad for a second that the Braves won.

I'm not really sure what your point is? Of course it's not my money, but I'd like my favorite team and its well regarded scouting department to have as much money as possible for accumulating talent.

As one of our board's 100% correct posters said the other day, this is what it looks like when the Braves play a fully healthy, playoff contender.. We had a bad start in game one, but dominated them from that point on.. The BP, as I suspected, was lights out (except for Cunniff--who cares).. The offense was good against good pitching and the defense was outstanding. This team looks like a real team and that is FAR more important than the #5 or #2 pick. Does anyone realize that if our core comes together like this, then as the talent starts to become ready behind them, then we will be forced to make trades that will restock the system for years to come..

If it winds up being a Kris Bryant or Alex Bregman type of player we most certainly will. Mind you, the overall history of #2 draft picks over the past 20 years pretty much blows, so that's unlikely. But acting like it doesn't matter at all is equally as nutty as acting like it's the end of the world. It might wind up being a huge deal and we miss on a super stud like Bryant or Machado, or it may mean nothing.

The one thing that's definitely for sure is we missed a ton of cap money because of it, which will limit our ability to sign potential studs that drop due to signing bonus concerns with our later picks.

The Braves should worry about getting the pick right instead of trying to manipulate the draft to get multiple guys. If we get a stud at #5 then we did a good job.

I agree. It's the extra cash, that allowed us to sign multiple players that could sting. I'm glad we are winning, but what chaps me is the missed game that would most likely have been a loss near the end. We didn't miss #2 because we won, we missed it because we didn't play.

In all honesty the idea that anyone would say that losing 93 games instead of 94 games was worth it, just shows that some folks are going to take the position that whatever happened was the best possible thing.

I mean I really hope you enjoyed that one win, it probably cost the braves the opportunity to pick the hottest rising players in the draft and possibly might cost them up to three prospects overall when you consider the drop in bonus pool.

Atlanta started its ace on the last day of the season, threw him 7 innings and won 1-0. Ok then.

Any event, I guess it was pretty damn random for Atlanta to finish on that kind of weird sample size results.

So I guess you won't be commenting on anything this offseason, because it isn't your money and it isn't your team, and it isn't your decision? Give me a break.

Atlanta picking fifth instead of second is without question less advantageous for the organization. It's money pool. It's the certainty of picking the player you want. It's the early pick in later rounds.

If you watch baseball only from a baseball ops perspective then why didn't the team just forfeit the game entirely? Take the randomness out of the picture entirely and ensure the second pick.

But if you watch it for entertainment, then how awesome was winning the last game at the Ted? We had 50,000 fans rooting the team on like it was the World Series.

If we end up missing out on the next Manny Machado and we have a slightly less talent second round pick, so be it. It's not worth purposefully losing games.
