No issue it all with this. Better to have Lindgren hold a 40-man spot than Chase d'Arnaud.

Could be a high leverage bullpen arm by the middle of 2018. I'm sure this is based on the advice of blackley.

And this is why I'm not as concerned about trading prospects for an impact major leaguer. This front office is showing that they can acquire high ceiling talent without the benefit of top picks. It's great to have an elite front office again.

Just so I'm clear on the logic here:

The Braves signed an injured BP pitcher and that makes up for trading away elite talent?

PosiBraves assemble!! We gave up Newcomb, but our elite FO replaced him with Lingred!!

    Good low-risk signing.

Jon Heyman mentioned something about Daniel Hudson having interest by 16 teams even after 2 Tommy John surgeries. With our stacked relievers in the majors and ready to come up to the bigs soon, wouldn't it make sense to see if a team would overpay for any of our relievers if it can get us useful offensive pieces?

Right now the FO is stashing the most valuable commodity in the game. Maybe not this off season but they will most definetly trade from their BP depth for very nice returns.

If arodys has a healthy effective season I could see him being flipped for a nice prospect.

Can someone clarify how his contract situation works? Saw that he signed a one-year deal, but since he was a pre-arb guy with New York, how much control do we have here if he comes back well?

Yup. Fans are going to wonder how the heck we got this guy by the end of the 2018 season.

We control him but just have to tender a contract every year until service time is used.

I think that is the case anyway.

Got to stash him on the 40 man for about 18 months before he can be expected to contribute. 40 man log jams in the future will have to be managed.

I had hoped that the Braves would have drafted him after he finished up at Mississippi State.

He'll go on the 60-day as soon as he is eligible to do so, which will make him a non-factor for the season when it comes to active and 40-man roster decisions, but like Biddle this past season, he'll have to go back on the 40-man after the 2017 season. Don't know much about him, so I will defer to those who do.

But I agree with Enscheff on the big picture. You don't trade depth simply because you can. We'll see on Jackson. Obviously some folks believe a change of scenery will get his head right (and from the comments by front office types outside of the Braves' brass, it appears his head is his biggest problem).
