I find myself more pro-Snitker than most around here. There are some things with his in-game management that I find annoying. But I think the more important role for a manager is in his relationship with the players. How does the team respond when things are not going so well. Do they keep playing hard. Do they accept his decisions as fair even when it adversely affects them. I think Snit is very good on that score. The Braves clubhouse culture (to the extent an outsider like me can glean) is much better than it was under Fredi. The team plays hard and relaxed under Snit.

yeah, snitker should turn himself into a good pitcher, or seven.

i think this is a wise post for the board to consider. building a solid foundation for the youth coming in shouldn't be something overlooked.

Is he, though? I have my doubts. And it's hardly overlooked: Hawk's post already addressed that facet.

Well, Freddie Freeman also thought that it was worth moving to 3B to accommodate Matt Adams.

    What to do indeed.

This team needs a little more than that.

Freddie's a helluva player but he should leave the GM stuff to the experts on this board.

More like one regime change away from assembling a real ML team.

They will keep Sniker until we are really contending, then his warts will show...and he'll be gone...2019-2020 range.

I personally still think the team needs to improve before we can get a real good read on Snitker, but (as PC mentions) I'm not sure he's done anything to justify a long-term contract. The positives are obviously the way they battle, the respect he has in the clubhouse, and the fact that he at least seems willing to play whomever's put on the roster as opposed to someone with "standing". I do think some of the complaints about how he handles the pen are overblown since everyone in it has struggled to be consistent at different times. Pens are typically what make Managers whipping boys for the fans, but you simply can't predict when someone's going to have an "off-night" - Holland's blown two in a row, the guys on XM have been questioning Dave Roberts for using Baez in the 6th inning against the heart of the D-Backs' order last night, etc.. If you find a Manager that's utilized his bullpen at a really high-efficiency, you've likely found the first one.

As for bringing him back for next season? Unless the brass is going to add pieces like Moustakas and/or another veteran SP this winter to try to be competitive starting in 2018 I don't see much of a reason not to give him another shot - especially if you can keep him on another 1 year deal.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
