You are right but if Harper is truly in play and we can get him, pull the trigger.Don't trade anyone sign him FA this winter. Then a championship would not be the pipe dream it has been since 2001.

Serious question - can someone explain to me why the Nats won't seriously try to sign him? Are they going to be too cash strapped?
the biggest #barves thing from this so far are some fans saying they wouldn't be able to cheer for him or don't want him cause he would block a prospect

Harper will sign here as long as Julio is dealt to another divisional team so Bryce can continue to destroy him.

This will never happen but would be great if it would. You’d get use to him. Anyone who thinks he isn’t a good player likely runs into telephone polls when they jog and makes poor decisions in general
It would be no different than getting Maddux in 1993. Did we really need him? Debatable but certainly a better fit than Bonds would have been. Recently I was told that Maddux almost renegged on the deal to stay with the Cubs, but I believe they confused the story with Glavine regretting and wanting out of his Mets deal. The idea of Freeman, Harper, Acuna. The new big three.

I am a robit: If Bryce Harper continues his unsustainable pace for the rest of the year, what does his free agency contract look like? 500 million? A billion?

Travis Sawchik: An owner gives Harper his franchise and Harper pays the owner

Travis Sawchik: Seriously, though, if Harper, say, repeats his 2015 he could exceed $400 million

Travis Sawchik: But, I’d expect a lot of opt-outs
Obviously you know it's no, but 12/400+ with an opt out after year 3 that makes it essentially a 3/120 for the Braves? Maybe.
The large market teams literally spent the entire past off season setting themselves up to break the bank on Harper/Machado though. There is simply no way the Braves can complete with the offers those teams will be throwing at those guys.
i'm surprised this thread made 4 pages.
