Remember when Inciarte was clearly showing signs of injury based on his defensive metrics, sprint speed and exit velocities, yet he continued to play everyday until his back got so bad he had to hit the DL for over a month?
Some rest definitely wouldn't have helped at that time, I'm sure.
To be honest I am getting worried about the NLDS. The way we have performed after clinching plus the injuries...granted the games mean nothing but it is tough to just turn on that switch...also with Freeman hurting, can he be the Freeman we need?
Get off my lawn!
So these are the 25 I would take against the Cards:
4 Starting Pitchers: Folty, Keuchel, Soroka, Fried
8 Relievers: Melancon, Greene, Martin, Jackson, Newk, Blevins, Tomlin, Teheran
2 Catchers: McCann, Flowers
5 Infielders: Freeman, Albies, Swanson, Donaldson, Hech
6 Outfielders: Acuna, Muk, Joyce, Duvall, Hamilton, Ortega
I go with Ortega over Riley or Cervelli because of the predominance of right handed pitching on the Cards roster.
I go with Teheran over other options like O'Day and Swarzak because he can provide cover in a long extra inning game or one where a starter gets removed early.
"I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."
"I am your retribution."
If Swarzak is on the list, I will buy a ticket and fly and personally hit our coach in the nose.
He is Reeksma and Klob combo.
He reminds me of them and they royally suck.

Having both Julio/Tomlin seems a bit excessive, O'Day should make it over one instead.

We've actually carried 2 long guys most of the season. Tomlin plus Toussaint for the first half. More recently there has been a rotating cast of others (sometimes called up briefly from the minors when the situation has called for it).
The main reason 2 long men in the pen is desirable is that typically you have to rest them for a few days after a multi-inning outing. The idea is to have one in reserve after you burn the other.
"I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."
"I am your retribution."
Seems about right.
The question about whether or not to include Cervelli hinges on how many times Snit will actually PH for Markakis/Mac/Joyce when the Cards bring in Miller and Webb. Your current roster carries 2 actual RHH PHers in Hech and Duvall (possibly a 3rd with Flowers if Snit is willing to risk running out of catchers). That probably counters Miller in all games he appears, which might be good enough.
It does not, however, counter the move where after Duvall PHs for Joyce vs Webb in the middle innings, then the moves go: RHP to face Duvall, Ortega to face that RHP, Miller to face Ortega, RHH to face Miller, Hamilton to PR and play defense. Hamilton can NOT be that RHH PHer.
I lean towards Cervelli over Tomlin to be that RHH PHer, and if a game gets out of hand Teheran can eat up innings. If multiple games get out of hand it doesn't matter because the series is likely over at that point anyways.

The Braves will sweep the Cards so the notion of 2 long men is ridiculous

O’Day should make it. Tomlin should stay home. I’m leaning towards only carrying eleven pitchers, with Blevins the odd man out for this series (but standing reserve should the team reach the NLCS).
