I'd at least have my attorneys looking into what I could do to make as much of an example of him as MLB did of the organization.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Surprising that they are said to have found wrong doing in the case of Drew Waters, and yet he stays in the organization?

    Indeed.

And keep in mind this is a zero- sum game. The Braves loss is the rest of the league’s gain. I Imagine the Phillies, Nationals, and Mets will try to snatch up a few of these players.

This is going to sting for a while.

The clincher that shows how completely bogus these penalties are is the Puason thing. Banning us from signing him because we've come to an illegal early "agreement" with him. YOU MEAN LIKE EVERY TEAM DOES WITH EVERY LATIN AMERICAN PLAYER?!?!?!

This shows it's not about appropriate sanctions for breaking rules. This was MLB combing over the whole organization and issuing the harshest possible punishment for every violation (imagined or not) regardless of whether that punishment fit what the Braves did.

McGurick seriously needs to call a press conference today and announce the Braves are suing MLB and will pursue the termination of Manfred at the next owners meeting.

Another reason I'm out as a baseball fan. I have no desire to be bitter watching these players make it with other teams. And I don't want to be the kind of person who hopes these kids bust.

At the very least he needs to demand every other team be investigated this thoroughly.

I don’t throw around “unfair” claims often because I think it’s usually a whiny excuse, but this treatment of the Braves in the name of competitive fairness is a joke if no other teams are penalized for literally the exact same infractions.

We literally have no grounds we can sue anyone on. All we can do is bad press the **** out of any other teams infractions until the league is forced to hammer other teams.

The fact that we drafted him makes it tougher. Especially since the "inappropriate benefits" were, as everyone said, offered in jest. The fact that they're taking a third rounder away is completely ridiculous.

That part rubbed me the wrong way too.

I mean they didn’t have to issue that penalty because the sanctions would have prevented it anyways, but to specifically call that out is incredibly belligerent.

Somebody get Manfred a Baseball America subscription so he can know which teams are breaking rules when the signings of these players are announced six months in advance.

I wouldn't be so sure. There are tons of contractual ties between teams and MLB. Somewhere in there you'll find grounds to at lest bring a suit. Then there's the course of business. How MLB has handled its relationships with teams in the past is an important consideration.

So if I'm McGurik, I sue MLB and drag them into a long, public, and very embarassing legal battle. I make sure Manfred knows I'd be using discovery to fish for every piece of dirt MLB has tried to sweep under the rug for the last decade. Even if we lose we'd still inflict as much damage on MLB as they inflicted on the Braves today.

That’s possible, but we both know McGuirk isn’t going to do anything. He’s never shown that he cares all that much about the Braves being competitive. He’s a guy who would Much rather prefer to be on good terms with the powers that be rather than stick his neck out for the good of the team.

This saga ended today, but with the most disastrous possible outcome imaginable.

It would be nice to see someone in the national media call MLB out for this extreme display of grandstanding.

Yep. McGurik doesn't care. If we had halfway decent ownership it might be a different story.

Yet another reason why the Braves got hammered so hard, because MLB knew the Braves ownership wouldn't fight back.
