4 catchers that have played for the Braves between 2012 and 2018 now have a WS ring. If I was a contender I would be looking to trade for Flowers ASAP.

I think this is the first year in some time that the best team in MLB didn't win it all actually. I'd say the last time it happened to an extent was 5 years ago in 2014. Most recently it had been about the most talented teams winning it all. That team this year was Houston. Easily even if you want to argue what if the season started later and blah blah. They were a superteam. The lineup was sick and once they traded for Greinke they had 3 aces. Heck, their version of Nick Markakis, for Pete's sake, if he was in, batted 9th instead of 5th!

What you can however argue is the postseason format with the off days took away the only real Nationals weakness from that team for 2019 if you had guys perform, and they did. So, this case will have a caveat.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Kendrick has been huge for them all season.

Yeah, only needing 8 outs and Cole is supposedly available. Thats like 30-40 pitches for him, it's Game 7, not a game in the middle of June. Or even leaving Greinke in. Said elsewhere, i would have gone Cole and let him finish it out, win with my best.

I see Taylor is back with a vengeance, spouting wisdom of a teenager who "knows athletes".

When healthy, the Nats are better than the Braves, and a perfectly adequate opponent to win 4 out of 7 games against the Astros. The Braves were also good enough to win 4 out of 7 against the Astros, just not as likely, and they only mananged to win 2 of 5 against a very evenly matched Cards team.

This idea that the best team wins the WS, or that some teams are built for the playoffs is complete stupidity.

The Astros had Cole, Verlander and Greinke in the rotation and didn't win it all because luck plays a major role in short samples.

This, to me, highlights the dumbassery of a 1 game Wild Card play in.

Yeah, getting 1 hit while allowing 9 hits and stranding 10 baserunners through six innings, yet still winning the game, isn’t getting lucky at all.

Scoring runs in the final 3 innings is luckier than scoring runs in any other inning?

Just gonna ignore the other 4 games where our rotation gave up 1, 0, 1, and 3 runs?

The Nationals had Strasburg and Scherzer, who were just flat better.

Keep thinking "luck" plays a huge role in a small sample. It rules your entire worldview (which is ****).

    IT IS NOT A LOTTERY.

dude between "it is not a lottery" and "there is some luck" there is a huge amount of space where the truth happens to reside

it is a shame the truth often lies in grey areas for those who are fond of only black and white
