As we head into the homestretch, who do you like?
I'm just going to do the big awards, I'll probably come back for the smaller ones later.
AL MVP - Trout. Without the triple crown I can't give it to Miggy. Trout is a lesser hitter, but not by enough to negate his massive baserunning and defensive advantage. Also barring a collapse, first player since Bondszilla to post back to back 10 WAR seasons.
NL MVP - Cutch. This should be about as slam dunk as an awarding as possible. No he isn't the leader in any of the triple crown stats but he's .326/.406/.517 with 19 homers and 27 stolen bases with good D in centerfield and the pirates have made the playoffs for the first time in 2 decades (well that last part isn't set in stone but it's highly likely) Goldschmidt is probably the only contender to the crown for Cutch, but hopefully the voters consider that Cutch plays defense at a defense first position. while Goldschmidt is at an offensive first position.
NL Cy Young - Kershaw, gonna be a slam dunk. If Harvey stayed healthy it would have been interesting. But when he went down it turned into a 2 horse race and Wainwright has faded while Kershaw got stronger. Kid is gonna be the highest paid pitcher ever soon.
AL Cy Young - an interesting discussion. Basically I'd guess there are 4 major candidates. Sanchez, Scherzer, King Felix, and Darvish. Personally, I'd give it to Darvish, But you can make a strong case for any of them. Colon gets some votes but his ERA is hollow. Sale is in consideration but falls short of the others for me.
