I think the Reds and Padres were really interested until they started talking to the Marlins and saw how difficult they are. The Dodgers and Astros have both cooled off on him to it seems. I could see the Marlins wanting to trade him to us bc it would weaken our minor league system and there’s only 2 years left of control on Realmuto. I see him getting dealt but who knows when.

The Diamondbacks have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent reliever Greg Holland, according to Robert Murray and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). Salary terms are not yet known; Holland still must pass a physical before the contract will be finalized.

Seems high for the risk he carries.

I don't think so.....he had a 0.84 ERA in 24 games for the gNats last season with a 2.97 FIP.....for $3.5m that is not too bad

So which is true. His 2 fip in 23 innings at the end of year or his almost 5 fip in 25 innings before that. Not sure I trust end of season stats when the gnats were already eliminated. He could be a good bounce back guy. I just think better value could have been had. I would think 3.5 mil would be with incentives not base.

We shall see...he was one of those guys I believe coming off injury, but also didn't sign until late....most of the free agents last season that got a late start struggled....If he pitches like he did in Washington, $3.5m sounds about right.

IMO he's going to the Dodgers.

The Fish have played their hand badly. Now they will want a package that saves face and the Dodgers can give it to them. When the Dodgers signed Pollock it was a clear signal that they are willing to trade Pederson. So, as I've said before, I think JTR goes to LA for Pederson, C Martin and a couple of useful but not high end minor league guys. The Fish will sell to both their fans that they got great value when in fact they got hosed as far as long term franchise building is concerned - just like they've done in all their other trades....

Agreed if he pitches like that he is worth it.

So we've made 3 major league moves this offseason not counting arbitration players. There has to be a site somehwere that can tell if this is a record or not. I'd be curious to see. I'm still surprised we have not made one trade, even for a reliever.

Especially at the onset of the offseason when AA said we’d be bigger players on trade than free agency

Pederson and Martin as the main pieces ain’t happening. If Verdugo isn’t in it then there won’t be a deal. The Marlins will hold onto him at this point and just say they couldn’t get fair value.

Agreed....if it was built around Martin/Pederson, the Braves package would be far superior

Everybody’s package would be far superior in that deal. Acquiring Russel Martin at this point wouldn’t be saving face it would be showing the world that you’re an even bigger idiot then everybody already thought.
