Digging this 11 ranking for Albies. Will be top 10 by the end of Swanson's first game.

Saw on Twitter that John Manuel mentioned Weigel, Fried, Gohara, Touki, Peterson, Riley, Wentz, and Pache as guys who received top 100 votes.

Keith Law will look wise for his Fried ranking in a few months.

Longenhagen might even be more bullish than Law based on his chat comments.

over the year's I've found myself in greater agreement with the BA rankings than any other and this year is no exception...I'm glad to see them give Soroka the appreciation that you don't see elsewhere

So eight in the BA ranking. Longenhagen has already said we'll have nine of his top 100. I believe the Baseball Prospectus rankings come out on Monday, and we should have the MLB.com top 30 rankings for our system in the next couple weeks.

He's likely top 5 in their mid-season rankings assuming he's not called up by then.

Albies is very talented, but he's also very limited in potential due to having no power. And his fielding isn't plus though it could be.

His speed and hit tool could be sick combo. But look at the best players in baseball, how many of them are in that mold? When you look at the top 20 players in fWAR the ones with an iso under .150 are Lindor, Eaton, and Pedroia. all of them are there because of plus plus defense. Speed not being too much of a factor in any of them.

I read an interesting Albies comp from Eno Sarris at Fangraphs, who has liked Albies for a while. He said Elvis Andrus with a little more pop.

Maybe my expectations are too high, but I feel like I'd be disappointed if Albies had the same offensive impact as andrus.

Elvis has been average to above average 6 of the 8 years he's been in the league. While that's not super exciting I'd certainly be ok with that. I do think Albies will hit for a higher average and post better than a .083 ISO though.

I don't agree at all Zito. He is better than average defensively and in fact if you ask me was better than Swanson in many areas. He got to more balls than Swanson at SS from my own eyes. I haven't compared their defensive stats which are moot with Albies at 2B.

Power is his ONLY issue and even with that, he'll hit more doubles due to his barrel to the ball hand quickness. If he were 6'1 his detractors if any wouldn't have a word to say.

For the record, here is BA's top 30 for Atlanta (it was made before the Gohara trade), with their value assigned in parentheses (some of them seem out of order, but that's due to a higher risk):

    1. Dansby Swanson (65)
    2. Ozzie Albies (65)
    3. Kolby Allard (60)
    4. Mike Soroka (60)
    5. Ian Anderson (65)
    6. Ronald Acuna (60)
    7. Kevin Maitan (65)
    8. Sean Newcomb (55)
    9. Patrick Weigel (60)
    10. Max Fried (55)
    11. Austin Riley (55)
    12. Touki Toussaint (60)
    13. Christian Pache (55)
    14. Lucas Sims (50)
    15. Joey Wentz (55)
    16. Dustin Peterson (50)
    17. Kyle Muller (55)
    18. AJ Minter (55)
    19. Travis Demeritte (50)
    20. Rio Ruiz (45)
    21. Braxton Davidson (50)
    22. Derian Cruz (55)
    23. Brett Cumberland (50)
    24. Drew Harrington (50)
    25. Bryce Wilson (55)
    26. Abrahan Gutierrez (50)
    27. Ray-Patrick Didder (45)
    28. Luke Jackson (45)
    29. Alex Jackson (50)
    30. Lucas Herbert (50)

It looks like they probably have Gohara around 12 or so, so you can bump everyone else down accordingly.

The fact that we have a guy with a 55 value at 25, and that 29 and 30 have a 50 value, is utterly absurd. The Diamondbacks, for example, have 12 guys in the system with a value of 50 or better, and just 2 with a value of 55; none higher.

I wonder how many guys are in the next 25. BA seemed bullish and some and bearish on others. I dont get the Fried omission at all.

Next year or even at mid season we could have more than we do right now.
