    Time to extent La Stella

Yes, what a shock that I would be calling for this but my main reason for this is because I believe that second-base will continue to be a position in the NL. I wouldn't extend La Stella if I didn't think second-base will remain both an offensive and defensive position but I think La Stella could be a very productive player into his last 30's if second-base is still here and we should be proactive in keeping him. I also think he is popular with the fans which also helps future revenues.

    What do you guys think?

Let's not forget Baby Kimbrel. I want to be the first to advocate a long-term deal for him. We need to corner the market on short power righties.

We should do it now. La Stella is gonna be pretty expensive by the end of the season when his BABIP reaches .990.

Novice. You don't pay for BABIP!

His cool looking batting stance is going to get him paid.

Tommy La Stella is just a slimmer, less ADD-riddled version of Marcus Giles.

    This, too, shall pass.

    Oh, btw:

Yes, which is why we should shift our attention to locking up our key bullpen guys like Anthony Varvaro. It would be good to have the security of knowing that we'll have have occasionally strong 7th innings and spotty mop-up work for years to come. Long man and backup catcher are the spots we need to look at now.

I am a bit concerned about losing Laird this off-season. It would be a massive loss.

He would leave a big hole. An enormous, roughly teddy-bear shaped hole.

La Stella has shown me some very good traits. Great strike zone recognition and doesn't try to do too much with his ABs. I thought Kruk's compliments during his crucial AB last night were right on the mark. He has a very good idea of what he's doing. That said, I don't know what his up-side is. I'm guessing he'll cool off.

.451 BABIP. I think that's a safe guess. Seems like a very smart hitter. Beyond his years.
