I think we’ll add one more good bullpen arm on top of this one. Shane Green seems like the likeliest of em all bc Detroit is going nowhere fast.

Rangers writer- Atlanta may have been willing to pay a higher price for Martin because red-hot Washington had also been on the tail of Martin.

Allard as a 40+ prospect carries a surplus value of a whopping 3 million. He's a nothing burger

Martin does have a 4+ FIP but that's mainly caused by giving up a ton of homers at home. His road FIP is 3.17 which is more inline with his .290 XWOBA. He's a really good reliever that's making like 700K the rest of the season. With the contenders premium I feel his surplus value easily surpasses 3 million.

I've actually been higher than most on Allard this year, but I can't really complain about this. We've had ample opportunity to call him up this year for a spot start or pen depth, and we've 'll passed on him every time. I think his value has simply tanked and the recent prospect lists have reflected that.

I hope nothing for the best for Allard and I still think he has a shot at being a Paul Maholm/Chris Capuano type of pitcher. But it likely was never gonna happen here as he had been leap frogged by several pitchers.

That's it. Better Allard than Davidson or de la Cruz or Voknik.

How bout non of them for Martin. We could've thrown them a couple wildcard arms for Martin.

Dude. Allard sucks. Look at his numbers this year. Massive regression.

And with that comes an end to the 2015 battery draft of Allard / Herbert. That certainly ended with a fizzle.

Allard’s only not a “wildcard” because he’s so low-ceiling, with a floor that’s looking more and more modest by the day.

With Allard’s lack of velocity, he was never going to be part of our rotation or bullpen. He may never crack a MLB roster. I’m fine with this deal. Gets us more in return that someone like Gohara will get us when he’s just released one offseason

Clearly we couldn't or we would have. The market is what it is.

You’ve made quite a few comments with absolute conviction that turned out to be completely nonsensical.

    Aggressively ignorant

Dont sell Allard short. If he went to college he would have dominated and been a 21 year old high first round pick who could need 2+ years of development right now.

Dont mind trading him because we could need the 40 man roster space and he needs a lot more development time than we have to offer.

Never thought I’d see somebody lose their mind over Kolby Allard being traded, but here we are.
