    right ?
Are you blaming the victims? I think you all know how pissed off I am about certain things but you dont see me attacking cops and destroying property. These people are dangerous because they cant concieve that they might be wrong. When you are that self righteous it becomes easy to justify violence against others.

no, I blame the people that were insensitive to the outcry of faculty and students

what did the organizers (college Republicans) _ think would happen ?
like I said yesterday, the only language this brand of right wing thinking understands is confrontation
and like most bullies cry foul when punched in the mouth

    Did You Know?

In "provocateur," a word borrowed directly from French, one sees the English verb "provoke." Both "provoke" and "provocateur" derive from Latin provocare, meaning "to call forth." Why do we say "provocateur" for one who incites another to action, instead of simply "provoker"? Perhaps it's because of "agent provocateur," a term of French origin that literally means "provoking agent." Both "agent provocateur" and the shortened "provocateur" can refer to someone (such as an undercover police officer or a political operative) whose job is to incite people to break the law so that they can be arrested, but only "provocateur" is used in English with the more general sense of "one who provokes."

    ......

The speaker invited by the college republicans has a history.
Again, what did they think would happen?

isn't that the risk you take when you engage in provocative speech --
That you provoke someone to an extreme?

I am not condoning or condemning what happened but with eyes open, who is surprised?
You pour gasoline on a fire and ...

one is free to pour gasoline but ...

    .................................................. .....

Guess it goes back to personal responsibility.
Those that invited this speaker and ignored faculty and students overwhelming opposition are as much if not more so to blame for what happened.
Does that make all (R) culpable - I think not
So why broad brush any one opposed to the speaker as violent or radical

Seems to be lazy thinking from where sit

So we shouldn't loosely toss around accusations of racism, but it's acceptable to generalize about the violent proclivities of "the left." Gotcha.

In 9th grade Civics glass we were posed this question
Is yelling FIRE in a movie house protected speech ?

When Vince Wilfolk punches you in the face for calling him a ****** -- is he violating your right to free speech ?
or, is VW punching you in the face his right to free speech ?
That should keep you busy for a while

Exactly. Students and faculty displayed "overwhelming opposition" when the speaker was invited. So what? That's no reason to cancel the event. If anything, it's a reason to promote it. That overwhelming opposition doesn't excuse their behavior, either.

Setting things on fire in response to having to hear someone you disagree with. Actually, scratch the "have to." You could no go and keep living your life. Ridiculous.

BTW, this is the kind of **** that goes on at universities and yet many folks want taxpayers to subsidize so it's "free" for everyone. No thanks.

And you then have legal recourse to recover damages from anyone that punches you. They should do the same to these protestors that incite violence.

Those analogies don't work...these protestors are free to simply not go to the event. The people who want to go and listen (and challenge the speaker like a responsible adult) can do that, and all others can go bowling or watch a movie or any other number of things than don't involve throwing bricks through windows and starting fires. This isn't a required part of the curriculum; no one is being forced to attend.

You can tell by using all capital letters that they mean buisness.
this country was founded by people who raided a boat and dumped their privately owned product into a harbor cause they didn't like something and then wrote that it was legal to kill the people in gov't if you don't like them when writing the 2nd amendment

so, i will take your fake outrage with a grain of salt

Let's imagine your same mentality is applied to a white person in the 60s, watching the Civil Rights movement.
