    Nationals Sign Weiters

One year with option. Half of this year's $10 million to be deferred. Option year is $11 million.

This was too rich for Braves? Hate him being in the division.

It's in the Spring Training thread.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

I would have been happy with any of Castro, McCann or Wieters for the cost they went for this off-season. Or even slightly more. The failure to upgrade at catcher is disappointing.

To me it's really a non priority this year though. When the team is seriously ready to compete I expect a move will be made for a catcher. Those guys you mentioned aren't long term solutions. If we were in a win now mode then I would expect we would of been bigger players for them.

I want no part of Wieters at 2/21. The option is a player option, not a team option.

The lack of urgency the Braves showed towards upgrading the catcher position tells me Lucroy will be their #1 priority next offseason. I expect him to sign for around 5/90, and for the Braves to be serious bidders.

Good. Weiters is a cunt. I bet the first thing that mother****er would do is talk to our young players about how much money Borass could get for them.

well...we allocated $12m for Bartolo Colon...seems to me those funds would have been better spent on a catcher

we'll see with respect to Lucroy...I think there is a decent chance he doesn't hit free agency

2/21 for Weiters isn't terrible if you project him to be about a 1.25 to 1.5 WAR type player. I wouldn't have signed him though for the braves. I think Norris provided the ideal player/contract.

12 million towards a catcher in 2017 doesn't really do much though.
