    GDT: Braves vs Phillies 5/20

Interesting with Markakis moving down in the lineup from 2nd. Not a fan of AJP and Aybar in the lineup. But I have a feeling the front office has more to do with lineup construction than we are being led to believe.

Tonight's #Braves SP Matt Wisler has a 1.80 ERA and .102 BAA in 3 starts (15 IP) with A.J. Pierzynski behind the plate this season.

Aside from Chicken Bone, this lineup isn't horrible. I'm glad the moved Kake.

I applaud the pitcher hitting 8th idea, but it really only works when you bat your best hitter 2nd. The best hitter, Freeman, bats second to get him ~17 more PAs over the course of the season, and ~17 PAs for Mallex are sacrificed by moving him down to #9 to give Freeman more RBI chances after the 1st inning. Without batting Freeman 2nd they are taking ~17 PAs from Mallex and giving them to the pitcher in order to give Gordon Beckham more RBI opportunities after the first inning. Why in the world would you make that choice? Doesn't seem like a logical plan at all.

In the end it doesn't matter with this roster, but they are STILL using spots in the lineup incorrectly, and it points to a fundamental misunderstanding of optimizing run scoring opportunities.

Oh, and they are still putting one of the best defensive OFers in the game in LF. I think it's pretty clear now that Fredi wasn't the problem when it came to lineup construction.

Yeah, we need hitters to not be an idiot and actually get guys in from third with less than two outs.

They said they were also working him out at third too noting that he's good enough an athlete to play multiple positions.

The one team we don't need to lose too is the Phillies. Let's stop sucking and get a few ours, Wisler.

As hard hit as Wisler was that inning I'll gladly take just one run.

Wow, nice bunt by Aybar. I think the chicken bone just may break the Aybar curse.

Looked safe to me but we haven't gotten very many (if any) reviews in our favor this year.
