To avoid getting chewed out by the collective brain trust of this message board, I will NOT call this "not good".

    I'm sure it's fine!! It doesn't matter!! It's actually a good thing!!

Where he pitches is secondary to him pitching well and reaching whatever target they have for innings without getting injured.

Rome has five starting pitchers: Sanchez, Toussaint, Weigel, Fried and Soroka. I thought they might resolve the issue by promoting someone, but they decided to send Allard to Danville.

Should of Promoted Wiegel to Carolina and let Allard stay.

could it possibly be that they intended for him to go to Danville all along and only stuck him in Rome to get a little extra time on tools?

Just kidding... i really want more information before overreacting to this. If it is simply a shuffling to get the right guys into rotations somewhere, then it is fine. He is coming back from injury. He will show them where he belongs soon enough.

I'm not sure why anyone would see this is a clearly bad thing. As bravos said, this may have been the plan all along. Or they may just feel like it's best for him to be in Danville right now so he can dominate. Either way, he's an 18-year-old pitcher coming off surgery. Why would anyone be concerned that he's being sent to rookie ball?

I am often rankled by the relentless brightsiding that happens around here when it comes to our front office personnel and minor-league system. That said, the only thing this move means to me is that we have a ****load of pitching prospects in the low minors.

Can't increase your chances of going to the Hall of Fame by getting yourself demoted to Danville Kolby.

My guess it's to keep his starts regular with Rome being at the break.

I mean he's coming off his best performance, which was pretty dominant, so it isn't likely to be a demotion on merit, right? It does seem to a be a space issue.

It's not like a prison sentence. He can be returned to Rome at any time -- he's likely the first man promoted when they find room to promote one of the Rome starters.

This is non-news. Allard had 3 outings in Rome and his third was excellent. The Braves aren't going to panic and demote a guy from Rome just because his first two starts of the season coming back from surgery were poor. Personally I think Allard was probably always slated for Danville. However, he was ready to start pitching in game situations before the Danville season started so they sent him to Rome to get a couple starts. If he's healthy and effective he likely ends the year in Rome.

completely agree.. plus they changed his delivery a little to make it easier on his back. No sense in promoting him to Rome if he is working on some things. If he would have come out and dominated Rome like he did last year in rookie ball.. then I bet he would have stayed.. but he didn't so they stuck with original plan to send him to Danville when the season started.

I could see somebod like Weigel, Fried, or maybe even Soroka get promoted after a little bit to Carolina..
And even if Allard is in Danville, I personally dont like it, but it shouldn't be that bad.

I'd definitely like to see Weigel move up. He'll be 22 in about two weeks.
