Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

If we are in it at the deadline and we have a chance at Haniger or another really good OFer then Markakis won’t stand in the way of us upgrading.

Would much rather see what Pache does during his first half than start targeting an OF at this point - if AA's going to package several pieces, the TOR arm might be a better target.

If we are in a playoff chance then I’d rather not bring up an unproven rookie to help make the push and let him take his lumps.

He supposedly wasn’t available. And it gives AA more time to evaluate the guys in the minors.

He's had 16 months to evaluate the farm system.

And? I wanted a big trade to but he wasn’t willing to overpay for anybody and that’s what he would of had to do. That’s the only downside to having a great game system is people always want more from you then other teams.

i'll maintain that unless markakis is really bad, an OF won't be acquired to push nick to the bench

Still likely to be a better option than drastically overpaying for Haniger AND having Ender in his way next season when there's no doubt he's ready.

If AA wasn't willing to pay what it took to land Realmuto, why would anyone think he'll go even close to what the ask for Haniger will be - especially since he hasn't already?

I get that some folks are still a little hesitant to jump on the Pache bandwagon - but as one of those fully on it, I'm completely convinced SOMEONE is going to have to get out of his way by next spring...if not sooner.

No, he's not Acuna, but what's the problem with "unproven rookies"? He was a pretty good one. When someone's "ready" to contribute, they're ready - you don't get successful young players if you're not willing to let them play.

So why wouldn’t they look to upgrade if they are in a playoff chase and Neck isn’t cutting it?

like i said, i think nick would have to be pretty bad. if he’s maintaining a 1.5 WAR pace he won’t be replaced. JMO
