You're right. Nothing to see here.

Coppy broke the rules, and got fired. Simple as that. No other ulterior motives involved whatsoever.

There was no internal strife in the FO between those who needed the Braves to "win now", and those who wanted to do the rebuild correctly.

That's the key. What did they know? So far, no implication of guilt on their part. However, if the investigation does implicate them, they need to go too. Will wait to see if that comes as this investigation is ongoing.

In all walks of life, employees hide things from their superiors all the time. If Coppella did indeed broke rules and did so without Scherholtz and Hart knowing what he was doing, then he is a snake and it would verify things that Sherman and Rosenthal have been saying on Twitter today.

They definetely don’t walk out of this smelling like roses...they’ll be questions that will have to be answered for sure

Keep your head buried in the sand.
It seems clear the Rosenthal piece was right. Those that had other sources were wrong. Klaw has been a big Coppy guy even before he was hired and Klaw said the Rosenthal piece was garbage. I think Klaw's source was Coppy.

    Clearly there were big problems.

What I don't think is clear is what the problems were. Was it scout vs analytics? Was it win now vs long term rebuild? Was it player development? Was it old school Braves guys vs others? Was Coppy just an hard person to work with over a long haul?

I've seen people thrown under the bus for some very trivial things. I've seen organizations have whistle blowers over very small details.

I don't think we know why this happened yet. Everyone knows we agreed to a deal with Maitan before we should have. But that is every year. So what did Coppy do, and whom did he do it to, that caused that person or persons to turn him in?

My head is not buried in the sand. I'm reading the reports and basing my opinions on what has been said. Once more info comes out in the investigation before its completion, then my thoughts will update. But, coming up with conspiracy theories because of your dislike of personnel in the front office does no good. And the info right now suggests John Coppoloella broke international market rules and if that's the case, then there is no other outcome for him than to be done as the Braves GM. We're just going to have to see whatever else the investigation turns up.

    On the road atm.

Jeff Wren’s Twitter is on fire. Coming after JS, Hart. Says Coppy was his best friend in baseball. And was JS’s handpicked yes man. Coppy’s lust for power instead of waiting til he was ready. Turned his back on a lot of people when promoted.

Ha, Jeff Wren is one hell of a twitter follow. Seems like a total jackass, but its good drama.

Sounds like this investigation actually dates back to John Schuerholz.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

and if they didn't there was a failure to exercise proper supervision...either way there should be accountability

I would probably believe Pendleton would be more open to analytics having been a hitting coach versus someone like Eddie, Snitker, or even Wash.

As much as I love a good conspiracy theory I think that Coppy getting fired is not about the use of saber stats, attendance, money or personality. I think it is simply about he broke an MLB rule and embarrassed the organization. IMO Hart should go too. We have been told that Hart was head of baseball operations so he should have known what Coppy was doing. As far a JS I can give him the benefit of the doubt just because his position would lead me to believe he is not in the weeds of the day to day baseball operations.

Could throwing Coppy under the bus be because Cashman and Girardi are on their way? The Yanks haven't extended them.

JS should have been fired 20 years ago. How he still holds a position within the organization is mind boggling.

Wow, just read Jeff Wren's replies and he's going off! If I'm reading this correctly, he's saying that Mark Bowman knowingly filed false stories on MLB.com in Fall of 2014 to curry favor with Coppy. I have reason to believe Bowman's attorneys are currently drawing up a defamation suit!

Yeah. That 101 win 1997 season should have been enough to show Ted that JS was a hot pile of garbage.

I'd to thank many of you. The knee-jerk reactions to a small fraction of the facts makes for entertaining reading. The only thing I know for sure is that no one here had any inkling that the hammer was about to come down on Coppy.
I eagerly await more facts, and more premature responses.
