From MLB Pipeline:
"Making his 15th start of the season, Anderson allowed a baserunner to reach second in both the second and third innings before settling in and retiring 11 of the final 12 batters. He struck out the side twice, in the fourth and fifth innings, and punctuated the performance with a pair of strikeouts in the sixth.
Anderson, 20, struggled out of the gate, posting a 7.07 ERA in four April starts, but has improved as the season's progressed. Since then, however, the 2016 first-rounder has pitched to a 2.21 ERA while compiling 69 strikeouts in 57 innings (11 starts). He's completed at least six innings in three consecutive starts and four of his past five turns.
For the season, he owns a 3.17 ERA with 87 strikeouts and 32 walks in 71 innings."
Anderson threw 83 innings last season and hit the 71-inning mark last night. I wonder how long the Braves let him go this year.
His numbers are also better than last year. 10.95 K/9 in 2017 has jumped to 11.03 K/9 after yesterday's start. The walk rate in 2017 was 4.66 BB/9, and he's down to 4.06 now.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
Not sure who is claiming Anderson is a bust. Anderson needs to improve his control. Even his biggest fans say that. It's just a question of how much improvement we'll see. If there's little improvement he'll probably bust. If there's significant improvement he could be very, very good.
It would be idiocy to declare him a bust at his age with no idea how much improvement he'll be able to make to his control.

We don't know what they are working on to hone their game, so there will likely be bumps in the road for all of these guys as they move up. People keep forgetting that the majors and the minors are in two different galaxies and the goal is to equip guys to succeed at the big league level and the player development staff works to get guys the tools/skills they need to do that. That is sometimes going to mean some trial-and-error along the way.

i believe anderson's velo was up right before we drafted him. someone on FG talks a lot about "new velo" and how young pitchers often have to harness it early in their MiLB careers.

Why does it seem there is a negative connotation to moving to the pen? Look at the Yankees' pen... having a top flight pen wins games
Don't read too much into me calling him a joker. It carries no real judgement.
People get way too offended with the Lucas Sims comp. Maybe it's because I was a fan of Sims when he was younger.
Sims never improved his control. If anything, his problems got worse. I do not expect Anderson to similarly fail to improve. I fully expect him to have a better career than Sims. I expected Sims to have a better career too.

I have not seen many bust comments.
I think the issues with Anderson are:
1. He was another pitcher drafted
2. There were bats people liked better......those guys have not been great by the way
3. His under slot lead to more pitchers being drafted
4. Many think his ceiling is too low. High school right handed pitchers are the biggest risk in the draft and many saw him as a 3 ceiling.
I like him fine. I think he'll go out when AA makes his big move in the offseason though.
