You never know what can happen in the playoffs if we get in. The season is a marathon and the playoffs are a sprint. Often times a mediocre regular season team can be a great playoff team because you only need 4 starters and we could pitch Walden and Kimbrel every game. The cards won the world series with only 84 regular season wins once. You never know.

LOL. I got that much.
Which part of that? About them giving up on the season or trading Gosselin? But yes, or at least why not to both. Of course they are always thinking ahead and making contingency scenarios. If Gosselin has trade value why not show him off some now? A week ago we were in free fall.
I just don't understand how someone can say "this team is definitely going nowhere." Teams about even/worse than this one have made runs in the playoffs. I'm far from banking on it, but it could happen. I don't know, I'm optimistic and it keeps it fun.

I think we are a good enough team to do all of that but with this manager I do not think he will do anything with this team to make that happen. We have the talent and players that can win any game we play but we do not have the manger to win any game we play. The guy is mediocre at best and that makes our team mediocre at best. Someone said it best last night. When we are up 4 or 5 runs he manages as good as any other manager but when it is tight the guy has the pucker factor and is in way over his head.

If Justin/Freddie are hot when the playoffs start we are going to win some games. The pitching is really good still.

It usually just boils down to who's clicking at playoff time. The pitching is good, the defense is good. If 3 or even 2 of our run producers are hot, we have a chance to make a deep run. How many times have we seen a hot WC team do that. Heck, we're usually on the wrong end of it.
Melvin will carry us in the playoffs. The other guys just have to get us there.

So understanding the division is a long shot, who do we want to win this weekend, the giants or the nats...
Sadly, need to become a Nats fan.
The division is out of reach. Let the Nats let us in the WC, while they run up their league lead so we can take em out in the playoffs.
I wish that were true. The Oakland game was on MLB last Friday, and it was the Oakland announcers. The Monday Padres game a few weeks ago was Padres announcers. I've also heard the Dodgers and Nats in the last month or so. The Dodgers was strange because it was Vin Scully doing a TV-radio simulcast, by himself. Of course in radio you have to keep talking all the time, and that is very unnerving when watching a game.
Well, you should never complain about getting Vin Scully over our guys. I always watch the Dodgers broadcast over ours. I learn more about the Braves in one broadcast with Vin than I do in a season's worth of listening to Chip Carey talk about pace of game and hunting for strikes nightly.

Well, hey. Someone has to believe in these bums. May as well be me.
No problem with it, just trying to be realistic. Fan graph has us at 44% for the playoffs, but they're 98% for the division. Rational doesn't mean given up. Just looking at realistic paths
