The Tigers could have gotten Baez or Bregman for Fulmer, but instead foolishly decided to hold onto him because he had a lot of control and they "didn't need to trade him right now".
Well, now he is recovering from TJ and has essentially zero trade value. A pitcher's value is now, so if a team isn't trying to win now they need to cash them in now. Period.

These are very simple analytics I do in 10 minutes every time a new pitcher joins the Braves roster...and the Pirates didn't think to figure this out? Cole was just out there literally throwing things at the wall trying to see what stuck?
