Chopping With The Braves And Rolling With The Tide
The good old boy club expands ... Hart made some terrible trades as a GM (the most glaring: Brian Giles for Ricardo Rincon and Travis Hafner for Einar Diaz and Ryan Drese) but is supposedly fairly respected in his current role.
John Hart, the man that stole A-Rod from us overnight in 2000.
(Of course in hindsight it was probably a great move for us).

Always good to have differing opinions in top levels of management IMO.
Natural Immunity Croc
His experience and background make him a good replacement for Balderson.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
Interesting pick up.
If I'm not mistaken, Hart was the architect for several long-term contracts that bought out arbitration years for the Indians. Could just be coincidence.
And there is the Braves big move this off season.

It seems like a good move. I also like it for sentimental reasons: Hart was the manager of the old Charlotte O's back when Cal Ripken was playing double A ball and won a championship here. He always seemed like a good manager and baseball man. I wonder just how significant his involvement will be.

I'd rather have Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart. He could relay down instructions from the GM's box with his megaphone.

We were the final team that was rumored to be signing A-Rod the year he was a free agent in 2000 (the year Manny signed with Boston, Neagle and Hampton to Colorado). We apparently offered him like 130 million for 7 years or something like that which was unheard of at the time.
Well the old saying was "A-Rod went to sleep a Brave and woke up with a Rangers hat". Boras got Texas to do the 10 year 250 million deal overnight and the rest they say is history.
