I guess I’m struggling with the idea that AOC is somehow more “economically illiterate” than mainstream Republicans who’ve actually been in charge for years, insisting that tax cuts will pay for themselves, etc.

Tax cuts have driven substantial economic growth this year... they haven't paid for themselves but they have brought in more more revenue than the amount was cut.

The fatal flaw here, is that the government not only didn't cut spending, it substantially increased spending while cutting taxes.

Shame on all lawmakers for doing it. Maybe AOC will bring in spending cuts.

    Going on for days?

I posted a tweet (today) about an elected congresswoman threatening a citizen trolling her with the power of the government.

I'll probably need a list of acceptable content topics.

    1. Russia
    2. Every election GOP wins is illegitimate
    3. Umm... Mueller?

I was told today that topics of speech oppression is not worth posting about. Anything else?

If Ron Paul is a crackpot why did the Republican Party leaders engage in shenanigans like canceling the voting in heavy Ron Paul district in Maine for a fake snowstorm then refusing to let their votes count in the primary? Why did they have to change the convention rules in a very shady way to prevent an insurrection at the convention? Why did the mainstream media blacklist him if he is crackpot? You dont deal with a crackpot candidate by refusing to cover them, you take their craziness and put it front and center. They didnt even bother trying to smear or discredit him because his ideas are popular. The main thing used against him was the idea that Republicans base wouldnt support him........ against Obama. Republicans would vote for a ham sandwich if it was running against Obama. Paul had more crossover appeal to Democrats than any Republican that has run in my recent memory. If the other candidates were not so bad this wouldnt bother me but Ron's a crack pot and Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, and Newt Gingrich are serious candidates? Those assholes are the bottom of the barrel humanity has to offer.

When do we reach the point in the stock market that those who said it was Trump's economy from day 1 do a 180 and say Trump isnt responsible for the stock market plunge?

The market is mostly focusing on China right now.

Trump has a lot to do with that uncertainty... so he's going to own that one.

Interest rates are a problem for the market as well, but I support raising rates.

She really is the new witch to hunt after. They've used Pelosi as a GOTV card for the last few years and now they need her to try to get anything done.

Have to admit they didnt even give Bernie this much attention and hes arguably more of a "socialist" than AOC is. Because they were too busy with their Hillary obsession. Just goes to show you it has less to do with "socialism" but the right instead just playing identity politics to insecure white men.

Its a long term strategy to make her a polarizing figure because they see her as a future threat. Basically what they did to Hillary. Started attacking her in about 94 because it was obvious she was going to run for President in the future. I dont agree with her or the Justice Democrats group she is a part of on much but they are atleast uncorrupted as far as I can tell. I hope they take over the Democrat party.

Hmm. Well, heck. Simple Keynesian spending has a multiplier effect in economic growth. Even welfare spending does that. I’m talking about the same old song that gets sung every time tax cuts are contemplated, which is that they will finance themselves through increased revenue, aka Laffer Curve magic. How is that math any less fuzzy?

    I didn't say it wasn't fuzzy.

I am saying that the effects of AOC's policy goals dwarf the effects the tax cuts had on the deficit. And if you were concerned about the tax cuts, I'm sure you're much more concerned about free everything for everyone

Well, the thing is, you can make a lot of that math work, too, it’s just that some folks aren’t going to like the result. Affordable health care, child care, education subsidies, infrastructure, carbon reduction .... I’ll for sure be in favor of trying to figure out how to square that circle before another generation of trickle-down fools’ gold and subprime mortgage-backed CDOs.

So what you call bad math from one side (but, let’s be real, you haven’t really investigated) is impossible to even comprehend, but what you acknowledge is bad math from the other side is cool, let’s keep doing it.

The policy solution that AOC has proposed cover about 5% of the projected costs... and those projected costs are the most generous to her cause

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An Indianapolis church is sending a message about the nation’s current immigration crisis.

Christ Church Cathedral put up the display at their lawn on Monument Circle overnight. It shows statues of Mary, Joseph and Jesus in a cage.

“On our lawn tonight we placed The Holy Family…in #ICE detention,” the church wrote on its Twitter page.
