Been saying for awhile Haniger is this off-season's Yelich. There isn't a prospect I wouldn't make available for him. Their pick of 2 or our top 5 and another top 10. Then negotiate the extras.
I'd try to push Newk to lessen the prospect package.

Still don’t think the Ms are trading Mitch. They are clearing salary to reset. But expect this rebuild to be only a year or so. Why they wanted Sheffield and Mallex. You can rebuild a bullpen easier than finding a stud RF’er.
Only package I could see them wanting would be Pache and two of our best pitchers. Then maybe it fits since all could be ready in a year or two. But still don’t think they do it and I am not sure we should trade for Mitch as a 6 WAR player.
That said. He would look nice in RF.

Really don't get this trade for the Mets either. You also have the PED concerns with Cano as well. Don't see how it makes sense to target a player for his age 36-40 seasons. Are they planning to move him to 1B? It was just mentioned that McNeill is off the table, well that's their current starting 2B who they need to give everyday AB's to after what he showed last season.

I might slow the Haniger blockbuster trade train down a little. Yes Haniger would be a great fit but IMO he was some wrinkles that keep me from giving up 2 top 5 guys to get him.
Haniger is a late bloomer. He is about to turn 28. So through age 27 he has around 1200 AB’s. Yes he has put up great numbers but I don’t see them getting any better. We have probably seen his best offensive season. Also Haniger is already not that great in the field. If his bat declines to a WRc of around 100 he will be a bad player.
I would trade for Haniger but my offer would be one 50 FV guy and one 45 FV guy.
I really believe the Mariners will hold onto Haniger at least another season
Who wants to start a non tender thread. Might be some good convo about who got cut on all teams.

He wasn't a late bloomer out of nowhere though. He was a high draft pick with the pedigree. The M's were slow to give him a chance. Maybe he's had his best offensive season and maybe not. Still he likely has 3-5 more years of above average to MVP type numbers if he stays away from a major injury. I would offer whatever it took and probably overpay a bit

Teams being told that in initial ask, All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel is looking for a six-year deal.
LOL. Good luck, CK.
Word now is the mariners are kicking in $60m of Canos remaining contract....that is crazy
Get off my lawn!
Martino now tweets that the Mariners are slated to send an enormous $60MM to the Mets in addition to taking on the contracts of Bruce and Swarzak. If that iteration of the trade ultimately does go through, it’d be a major wrinkle in favor of New York, who would effectively be paying just $26MM of the remaining money owed to Cano.

Oh. I wasn’t doubting you. But how can the M send a 4 war reliever and a 4 war infielder for 26 million and 2 prospects outside the top 50. That is insane. Bruce and suckzact and that other garabage minor leaguer are worth nothing.
The M’s are stupid if that is the deal.
