No waters or pache today. Did I miss one being promoted or injured? Kinda weird to rest both

Yeah based off a post I finally was able to dig up about 30 minutes ago, I "think" Pache's agent announced him going to AAA on Instagram and he confirmed it on his Instagram story based off what I see now.

Based off Waters not being in the lineup and then Anderson's start being moved, they might be following him.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Me too. Power is generally the last thing I worry about with a prospect because the minors always seemed to suppress homers.

Leaving out Folty who is a major leaguer and De Paula who is a 28 year old scrub this is our AAA pitching staff. I cannot recall having at least some faith/hope in every single pitcher on our AAA roster.

    Kyle Wright
    Ian Anderson
    Bryse Wilson
    Touki Touissant
    Tucker Davidson

    AJ Minter
    Jeremy Walker
    Chad Sobotka
    Jacob Webb
    Wes Parsons
    Huascar Ynoa
    Patrick Weigel
    Thomas Burrows
    Corbin Clouse

That's an exceptional group for a AAA team. And just about every one of them is a contender for post-season roster. Audition time she comes.

    Agreed.

Got my eye on Weigel, Webb, Walker, Sobotka of that crowd. Ynoa might be better suited for the pen, but they started him on Saturday.

I have no faith in Minter at this point.

There are two cuts. First who gets called up (which itself might happen in waves). And second who makes the post-season roster.

With respect to the first wave on Sep 1, my guess is the starting pitcher in AAA who is doing the best will be moved into the major league rotation (I wouldn't rule out Anderson if he grabs the bull by the horns). Also in that first wave I would expect 2 or 3 guys for the pen, including a lefty, and a catcher (either Jackson or Murphy). Murphy is not currently on the 40-man but could be added. Having a 3rd catcher makes it easier to use McCann as a pinch hitter. I believe we carried a third catcher in the post-season last year.

If Waters and Pache are headed to Gwinnett, I wonder what the roster shuffling will look like. Lien likely heads back to Mississippi, but it's been a puzzler to me why Justin Dean has labored in Rome all season. I thought he'd at least be in Florida by now and, like Harris, maybe earn a shot in Mississippi as the season winds down. Dean's K-rate is a little high for a guy without a big power profile, but he's got some wheels.

I'm curious to see what happens if Folty/Gausman can't get it together. Wonder if it would be Touki next up and if not whether it might be Anderson.

Maybe Neslony is ready to come off the IL.
