I like cherington more than most. I know he has some huge black marks with free agent signings, but I tended to really trust his process most of the time. He left Dombrowski quite a bit of talent when he got shown the door.

I actually don’t care that much if Hart leaves. I’m fine with Cherington or Harris, and prefer them over Moore. If the rumor about JS wanting to put his kid as GM is true I’d way rather Hart win this battle.

And from all accounts, he was hugely popular with his staff in Boston. As we have learned, this hasn't been the easiest thing for the braves to figure out recently

Cherington took heat for the Hanley/Panda signings and the subsequent disaster season. He also created a hell of a farm and player dev system in Boston. I would take him in a heartbeat over DM and Jennings.

Sign me up for Cherington all day long. He's by far my favorite of those mentioned.

Sox prospect nerds were contemplating suicide when DD replaced Cherington.

I don't disagree - I spent most of the 2014-2015 off-season trying to point out that Hart hadn't been associated with an actual, factual good baseball team for a decade.

On the other hand, Schuerholz's last two GM hires have been Wren and Coppolella, so I'm not over-flowing with confidence in him, either.

    I'd take Cherington over Moore.

The Hanley/Panda signings were bad signings that turned into disasters. He was both unlucky and dumb on those signings. The thing about someone like Cherington is his tenure in Boston doesn't give you a good read on what he would do with the Braves given that the constraints are so different. But I like that he's worked for teams whose front offices (at least in my perception) are closer to the cutting edge on the analytical side than say Kansas City.

Hot damn. I feel like Enscheff should be banished to Posi-Braves Hell again for a day out of principle.

Even though it happens sometimes, doesn't really detract from Enscheff's point that someone succeeding under those parameters is exceedingly rare. Most of those guys were the hardest throwing pitchers of their time. Don't think that Newk's stuff is quite on Sandy Koufax's level

I've always thought this was the best comp for him if everything worked out. But the key there will be Newk developing his changeup, otherwise he really has no chance as anything other than a stuff 4/5 that goes 5 innings regularly. Gio actually has 3 legit pitches, which has allowed him to be solid even when he hasn't had great control.

Well, yeah. I doubt there are many on board with Newk actually becoming Nolan Ryan. That just isn't what Meta was responding to.
