Him harping on the 78 win thing is weird. Almost no one predicted much more than 80 this year so he is basically saying that you're prediction was right on par with everyone else's. That your genius couldn't predict this season, in his eyes. Which, by his using it as argument leverage, is almost a tacit admission that he thinks you're smart. Or smarter. Or something.

    I wonder...

Has clvderpclv learned about time zones yet? Do you think he understands that it's 3 hours earlier on the West coast than where he is?

Bashing Scheff for saying the team would win 78 is dumb, no one saw the Braves having this kinda year where alot went right, mainly from a player development standpoint more than luck.

Regarding Arenado, hot pass, he's incredible but the contract and trade capital it would cost would not be very wise for the Braves. I mean i guess IF it didnt cost anything insane like say Newk, Pache, Gohara, and something else sure but it would probably cost more than that.

Catcher, bullpen, and an outfielder to replace Nick are alot bigger needs than 3B where the Braves have Camargo and Riley up sometime in 2019 who are dirt cheap for awhile.

Fairly close - and that's what drives him completely nuts.

With all the charts, formulae, spreadsheets, and algorithms he couldn't come up with a better projection than all those he loves calling "idiots" - going so far as to point out that I projected the same number of wins he did before the season started.

Tough to be a genius when all the idiots around you guessed the same number you did - particularly when they did so without the benefit of anything other than "a feeling".
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

This is such a weird point to make.

And this is coming from someone is very much not a fan of the person it’s directed at.

I feel like you’re projecting a lot here. I don’t think anyone, Enscheff included, is anything more than elated the Braves’ exceeded everyone’s expectations this substantially.

except maybe for Harry who has had to put the Freeman trades in his back pocket

Don't worry. If the Braves don't play well in the playoffs then he might be on the 'blow it up' train and have Freeman packing.

Im not fan of Scheff, but dont see the point to bash him on an 78 win projection when most people projected around 78-83 wins.

He isn’t bashing him for predicting 78 wins. But instead using advance stats to predict the exact number everyone who didn’t use advance stats predicted. Well except me who predicted 78 wins in the first half and I was more righter than all y’all fools.

Advanced stats that were based on projections. When players/teams do better than those projections it changes the formula. The difference is we can use these advanced stats to show how, why, and who's responsible for the Braves beating their projections.

But what’s the point? That convergence doesn’t point to a failure in Enscheff’s process; it shows that statistical models, informed observation, and gut instincts all formed a consensus expectation—and the Braves nonetheless exceeded that consensus.

I believe you are correct sir. The Possies were brow-beaten into steering low on the projections.

    Well...

When someone comes up with ideas like "Sale for Jenkins" and "Albies for Dee Gordon" and is constantly told how dumb he is by everyone on the boards, he gets desperate to prove me wrong...about anything.

So he's grasping at the fact that my win projection was low, even if his point is essentially: "I'm an idiot, you agreed with me, we were both wrong about this one thing nobody else predicted, therefore you're also and idiot".

The sad thing is that I'm not sure he understands how this makes him come across even dumber...as pointed out several times in this thread by several people...a few of whom clearly state they aren't a fan of me. Think about how dumb a person must be for folks who dislike me to chime in and tell him how dumb he is...

He can't even grasp that other Americans live in other time zones, so the complete lack of intelligence he displays should surprise nobody by now.

I am not saying anything bad about advance stats. Love them. I just wanted to point out that I said the Braves were going to thethe this year and um... I nailed it.
