I like Culberson a lot but the dude is not a starter. We just had a day off, there was no reason to sit Swanson.

Very possible I end up eating my words but I kind of wish that Albies was just DL'ed since they were going to be extra cautious. 1 at bat coming off the break and then coming back to face a bunch of tough pitching after not seeing live pitching is very unlikely to work out for him.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

that way we can keep Culberson's hot bat in the lineup

Seems like we've been pretty lackluster for about the last month or so. We've gone from being 15 games over .500 to eight over--if we can win one against LA. I think most of us understand the rationale behind taking the long view but there just hasn't been a lot of positive trending of late.

Fried sighting in the dugout. A hint he will be activated to start on Monday.

I can't believe they'd want to give up their right to challenge for the rest of the game if they're wrong.

I mean (although he made adjustments so it might be part of it), we saw the game of try to avoid the disabled list played with Ronald and the result from it was he promptly got 3 hits in his next 21 at bats. I'm not sure I like playing those games with guys still learning in the major leagues. With a manager like Snitker who loves being loyal to players, why not use a 10 day DL stint instead of the try to avoid the DL game and let him get to play Charlie more without problem.

Kills two birds with one stone and maybe the back to back games with embarrassing defense doesn't happen.

Honestly not sure Dansby’s one either.

Fried is actually starting this Saturday. Newcomb on Sunday, Teheran bumped away from a hard hitting team.

People are using the arbitrary now below .500 since June 1st line but the ship really started spiraling down the drain actually after the first Toronto game. Outside of the sweep of the Cards and a surprise win vs the Yankees and a couple games (I think we all know them, but I'll list them, the game right off of the break against Washington where Acuna went wild and the first Miami game) since then, it's really been mostly pure awful since then. The team has seemingly gone back to being a pushover for most teams, with no special performances.

Why is Sam Freeman still on the team?!? He's garbage! Philly has taken control of the division and we keep running bums like Sam out there!

Agreed! Ender should have been the one given the night off, not Swanson.

AA didn't sign our top pick. He seems to be against rentals for some odd reason. Flaherty is STILL on this team. The pen is falling apart... no help from AA. I'm really not impressed with our GM /rant

Does it matter? The bullpen could catch fire, and Snitker would still send a flaming Sam Freeman out there to stop, drop, and roll over.

He's calculated to a fault at least he finally dipped his toes in the water and made a move. What would be a twist of fate is if an Anthony Rendon type professional hitter falls to us with that extra pick that we get back next draft.
