    Interesting take on Donaldson--

From MLBTR Pending FA hitters who have hurt their stock

Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays: One of the biggest names on this list and its most recent MVP winner (2015), Donaldson hasn’t played since May 28 on account of an injured calf. When he has taken the field this year, Donaldson has produced more like a mediocre hitter than the elite player he was from 2013-17, as he has slashed .234/.333/.423 (104 wRC+) with five homers and a .190 ISO in 159 PAs. If Donaldson makes it back this season, the soon-to-be 33-year-old will attempt to rebuild his stock in advance of free agency, but neither his age nor the injury issues he has endured will help his cause.

Im a JD Fan. If he reaches un in waivers i hope AA goes for him. Maybe have Carmago i guess play SS some even though it might hurt Darby.

Extremely doubtful he gets more than 2-3 years at this poin, imo. Wonder if he would sign an incentive laden 1 year deal with a mutual option and buyout? Could be huge addition in 2019 if he proves healthy. You gotta figure AA will have some interest with 3B needing an upgrade and Riley not ready.

Donaldson with a QO attached is a very hard player to value. He might end up being a good short term play to bridge the gap to Riley.

we should also consider signing Cabrera, Moose or Escobar as a depth player for 2019

All of the 3b rentals who were potential targets 2 weeks ago should be potential targets as FAs this off season.

Hopefully we don't have to actually watch Camargo regress vs RHP at the beginning of 2019...AA's FO should see it coming.

Moose makes a ton of sense to me.

Likely we will be looking for the guy who hits righties well, plays avg or better 3b and is willling to take a one plus one deal.

I wonder if we go the Eduardo Escobar route so we can have the positional versatility. I can think they go Escobar if they really believe in Riley and moose if they are not sure on Riley.

I'm glad Moose is gone but seeing him up close makes me wish we had him even more now.

I doubt Moose signs to platoon, maybe Escobar.

I'd still like to see the Braves get Yandy Diaz and try to alter his launch angle.

He's currently sitting in AAA with a 16% BB rate and a 17% K rate.

Going by his limited statcast data from 2018, he's still crushing the ball with an average LD/FB exit velocity of 97 mph.

Surely someone can figure out how to translate that good 3b defense, exit velocity, plate discipline and contact skill into an MLB contributor.

    Granderson just cleared waivers.

Would you grab him as a LHH bench bat in place of Flaherty, and make Culberson the only backup IFer on the 25 man roster?

I would be in favor of adding you as our LHH bench bat over RF. And I don’t even know if you hit LH.
