    I seriously doubt that Touki was available last night. They've said that they're going to be careful with SPs in the pen, so he was likely on the every 2 days schedule if a need comes up and yesterday was just 1 day since he had pitched. It wouldn't shock me if he's starting in this spot next turn through though.

    Basically, he's helped in the pen, but he's been a band aid and not a real fix. Newcomb to a lesser extent is the same deal. Since they're being a little extra careful, they're band aids on what was a bad pen.
    Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

    Yup. Guasman had 1 fWAR and a mid 3 FIP entering tonight. But an hour later an he's garbage.

    Smoltzie basically said earlier we can afford Kimbrel so that’s some good news on the night.

    Phillies' new players' fWAR...
    JTR = 2.0
    Cutch = 1.4
    Segura = 1.4
    Harper = 1.4

    You had to at least split this series with the starting pitching matchups. Embarrassing!

    I wish Snitker would realize how dumb this lead off crap is.

    Obviously it's an overreaction, but gausman hasn't had an fip under 4.10 since his 2nd year and that wasn't a full year. Gausman is a decent pitcher... that's all

    Last year when the race was close, we hung our hat on RD. If you look at right now, the Phillies are much stronger than us. If their current score holds up, they'll be +38 to our +6. Is this concerning or still too small a sample?

    Well, before tonight there was only a 10 run difference. Tonight’s loss was one of those fluky things. We’ll make it up, just like we did after the Cardinals game. It’s going to be a close race, so being so close in RD shouldn’t he a surprise.

    If anyone has a deep understanding of the Braves financial situation, it’s John Smoltz.

    Gausman is a #3. I don’t think anyone claimed he was anything more than that.
