9th round pick Cody Milligan hits a walk-off homer to win game one for Danville. He went 1-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Two-hit games for C Victor De Hoyos (who had some intriguing numbers in the GCL last year) and Bryce Ball.

Looks like Hoyos and Ball should be Top 100 prospects

I'm hoping they stay aggressive with moving him up. He's 23.5 years old with four years of SEC experience under his belt. No reason to be conservative and let him beat up on levels younger than him.

    Definitely agree with that.

Also looks like Pipeline moved up Austin Riley from 30 to 20 and Drew Waters from 59 to 45. Riley will graduate though with 4 more AB’s.

Harris will finish the year in Miss and then probably get an aggressive start for 2020 in Gwinnett.

If he hits then maybe he is a injury call up but in the long run ends up being a 2021 option for the bench.

A shootout burgeoning in Danville’s second game: 9-8 Princeton after two innings. Milligan’s having himself a day so far: another walk and another steal (iirc he was 30-30 this year at Cowley in the latter category). Willie Carter is also 1-1 with a walk and two steals.

Ray Hernandez (28th round pick in 2018) has a double and a HR and 6 RBIs. A bit old for this level at 22.

Now Ball with a solo homer. And though he's not yet listed on the milb.com roster, and isn't playing today, the Danville press-release noted that Brandon Parker will begin his pro career in the Appy League, as well. There should be major power on that team to start the season.

Say what you will about the relative risks and rewards of the FO's 2019 draft strategy, from a long-term, MLB-talent-producing perspective; but—from a purely fan-based perspective—this draft should make the lower levels a lot more exciting to follow on a day-to-day basis, given that there are tens of players with moderate-to-high upside, versus a handful of top-of-draft names coupled uninspiring senior-signs who might produce one Tyler Neslony or Trey Harris for whom to watch. GCL should be dripping with athleticism and potential; Danville, as aforementioned, will pack a ton of power bats (and some guys who can take a walk); and Rome should be much more interesting once Langelies, Shewmake, and Kalich get rostered.

I thought the most exciting pick last year was Vodnik. Which is a sad commentary. This year we have a dozen Vodniks. A juco player like Milligan (age 20) has a certain amount of upside. Ball is also 20 and a bit young for his draft class.

Speaking of which: Milligan just worked a bases-loaded walk (after getting to 3-2) to bring home the tying run. A subsequent wild-pitch made it 11-10 Danville.

I mostly agree—though I'm still holding out hope on Jenista.
