Duvall for Joyce is exactly the type of moronic reactionary move that will probably work out for Snit. It’s the wrong move, but Duvall is an upgrade defensively at least.

The silver lining in this lineup is that the Cards won’t be able to gut the lineup with Miller for the 56th time in row.

It is the wrong move, but it does come with some benefits. It breaks up the valley of the lefties that we had been rolling with all series which should help us avoid bad platoon matchups mid and late game. We get better defense from Duvall. And we get a really good lefty off the bench that we can use to pinch hit and/or double switch later on in the game.

If we were going to make this move, though, I kinda wish that it was for Markakis rather than Joyce. Nick is just playing terribly right now.

The valley of LHH wouldn’t be an issue if Snit was intelligent enough to deploy the RHHs on the bench correctly.

I feel like the better approach here would have been.

    Acuña
    Albies
    Freeman
    Donaldson
    Markakis
    Swanson
    Joyce
    Flowers

Breaks up the lefties leaves us a lefty bat on the bench moves up one of our better hitters and improves the pitch framing.

Ignoring the silliness of Acuna batting leadoff, Snit has been using the correct players all series. The only glaring issue with the lineup has been not using Swanson to split up the LHH.

Flowers over Mac is probably also a toss up.

Unless these pitchers are requesting Mac be their personal catchers, he does not need to be starting. The lefty platoon advantage is nullified when that player isn't very good. Mac has looked completely drained all series. Cervelli shoulda been the play here.

To me, the mistake is Acuna in that spot. The guy scored only 1 run in the NLDS (his HR in game 1), with an OBP of .579.

This leads to frustration and the tendency to always try for a home run.

I would have rather put Swanson in leadoff spot and hit him 3rd.

Cardinal fan forum for the game. They have all the confidence in the world. I guess they know they got that anti-Curse.

Mistake by the Braves to throw Foltenavich out there in this one. He was lucky last time. He wont be so lucky this time.

Of course, then again, at the first sign of trouble for him Snitzker will yank huim.

No reason he shouldn't have had 2 runs scored in Game 4.

That's exactly my point. He's in frustration and this could lead to trying too hard in a spot where we need him to just do what he has been doing perfectly.

Our mood would be the same if we had their same recent history in playoffs.
