Cervenka on the move
Cervenka on the move
For Prado?????
Where are you seeing that?
Get off my lawn!
Has he cleared waivers? If not, will Pittsburgh, mets, or Rockies claim him?
I'm surprised he wasn't blocked.
thank you weso1!
Crossing my fingers it's for Luis Castillo
Definitely surprising that no one claimed him ahead of Miami. Marlins have a pretty mediocre front office . . . the kind where the other team usually wins the trade. Don't want to get my hopes up though.

Solid lefty reliever with 6 years of control left. Should be able to get a decent prospect for him.
Rosenthal is reporting it.
thank you weso1!
Gave him away for nothing. Well 2 a ball players. But nothing exciting
^ that is who we got back
Good trade. Both those guys are interesting and young. Anfernee has 80 grade speed.

I really don't understand this trade for the Braves. Why would you trade a major league lefty reliever who has been pretty darn good, one we would have had under our control for the next 6 years, for two C prospects that most likely will never contribute? Baffling.

I'll take it. I also like that this move suggests we might be more willing to sell than we were at the deadline.
I'm not a huge Cervenka fan, to be honest. I think it's unlikely he'll make it to arbitration and be tendered a contract. His performance has declined in the second half. Return seems fair, but not real interesting. Not sure I would have pulled the trigger on this move based on my initial analysis of the two players coming back.
You'll take it? Why? If Cervenka had been a pending FA I could see it, but he has proven he can get major league hitters out with 6 years of control remaining, and you trade him away for two guys that are struggling in the low minors and have very little chance of ever contributing close to what Cervenka has accomplished?
