There is no rule on that

Almost February. Roughly three weeks or so before pitchers and catchers report. Harper, Machado, and Kimbrel still unsigned. Surprised this is going on two years in a row.

And Keuchel, Marwin Gonzalez, couple others as well. Baseball really needs to fix their free agency process.

But the bigger concern is alot of teams arent spending, so you only have the big markets out there, and they cant get everyone.

NFL and NBA's free agents top players are signed by the first week.

I didn’t think there was. Didn’t it happen to Santana this offseason?

Yeah it’s out of control, something needs to be done. They could take a 1 year deal and hit the market again next year at 27 years old so they could still get a big deal and the QO wouldn’t be attatched.

Mish did a Q/A on twitter today, some stuff about the Braves from him.

Albies long gone man. Marlins no longer demanding ML player. Would be probably 3 prospects from ATL.
Looks to me like the Braves have to re engage the Marlins. MIA is getting calls. They are listening.
If the Braves and Marlins aren’t going to talk they can’t do a deal. Simple. (AA needs to call and engage it sounds like ugh not good)

Beat me to it lol. Was about to post the same thing. Mish answered a ton of questions, probably 30+. Really nice and engaging. This was the main take away from a Braves perspective - AA needs to make some calls if he wants to move this along. Also found it amusing that ~90% of the questions he got were from Braves fans (not a lot of Reds or Padres, tho a few)

How if both teams they are not talking the Braves have a 35% of getting Jt Realmuto? This guy been trolling the Braves fans.

I think they have an offer on the table for awhile, who knows what but they need to re-engage to get it across the finish line. My theory all along.

I don’t have a clue as to what is going on, but with how things seem to be going, and how AA operates, I’m willing to bet he made an offer and is leaving it be. He probably said this is my highest and best, and the Marlins are just sitting on it and trying to engage other teams for a better offers (ie the latest Cincinnati and and SD rumors).

If AA were heavily engaged then the trade would have been done a long time ago.

Can you say labor dispute here we come?
Gonna be an ugly, ugly battle. There is a massive youth movement ongoing in MLB and teams are learning to build from the ground up instead of getting destroyed on long term bloated free agent contracts.
Gonna be really fascinating to see what the players union does to try to flip the script to the way it used to be.Middle ground will be hard to come by.

To what end? There has not a game contested, no change in the standings. I don't mean to be disingenuous, but until camp starts and JTR begins interacting with the pitching staff, it matters not. What could be happening is the Marlins are belatedly coming down in price. I agree that it absolutely needs to be done before the start of camp.

I say screw em. They wanna walk? Let em all.
We can pay fair value as fans - like my kid and I aren’t gonna go to the park all the time anyway.
They shouldn’t make anything close to what they make.

A Vegas insider that broke the Gordon Hayward signing is claiming that Harper has signed a multi-year mega contract with the Phillies. I actually believe this one because apparently Vegas has pulled all of their Harper prop bets off the board.

I'd rather he go there than Washington, sure the division would be better but Washington with Harper > Philly with Harper.

There was also a tweet from MLB the Show announcing something tommorow, Bryce is on the cover.

I'm friends with a couple of devs at SDS from running my YT channel and they said a couple of weeks ago that Bryce hadn't given them any inside info, but if he plans on announcing in the next day or two they probably have gotten a heads up for the cover. Of course, knowing Ramone they could just be putting out a red herring and they're just going to announce the start of their development streams tomorrow. I think both are equally likely.

I'd agree. Harper back to the Nats makes them the clear favorites for the division. Him to Philly honestly makes it a giant toss up. NL East is going to be stacked.
