Assume we had a player "like Prado"—versatile, gritty, and essentially league-average for the past two years. You really think we're a better club without a guy who is top-10 run producer?
I assume you consider a run producer as someone who drives in runs? So RBI. Anyway I looked at runs scored as well.

Justin ranks 23rd and 46th in those categories. In all of baseball.

I loved Prado as a Brave, but you make the deal with Arizona 99 times out of 100 with the 1 time you don't do it based upon the players in the deal not named Prado or Upton.

Arizona grossly overpaid Prado (not to the extent that we overpaid Uggla, but overpaid nonetheless). He's now a second-tier guy earning first-tier money. I would rather have Prado than Chris Johnson, but Prado is getting paid considerably more than Johnson as well and we lack the salary space to make that happen.

Prado is a "made" player. He's not blessed with all the tools, but he developed into a reliable second-tier guy who added some synergy to the line-up. He made himself into a pretty decent ball-in-play hitter who does a ton of little things to help raise his team's performance. But you don't build teams around guys like Martin Prado.

It doesn't help we have a low obp offense for the RBI total....

Maybe he'll be as good as Freeman was last year.

Are you saying Freeman lost a bit of his clutchness talent? It is a talent right because it just can't be some random thing that varies from year to year. I assumed a near 1.300 OPS would be the norm for the rest of his career.
All you need is Hart and Cox.

I actually thought he would improve upon it given how young he was.

fredi should have been canned after they lost the biggest lead in league history.
now here we go again. nobody wants to play for this guy. what is he still doing here? anybody?

and then there's mr. free agent signer...where would this club be without the uggla and upton deals. not to mention lowe and KK. that guy's track record is strained at best. we talk about poor leadership in the clubhouse, but damn. it's really bad at the top. at least they'll be playing in a mall parking lot soon.

Braves are a disaster right now. Its time to clean house which is tough for me to say because I've been one of Wrens biggest supporters in the past. You just can't defend him any longer with the FA signings he has made.

He may be but the issues with the Uptons are real. I also wonder what type of impact Freemans comments had about how he was unstoppable early in the year had.

Bill's making a mountain out of a molehill again. He's a huge Braves fan which leads to him being way too optimistic when things are going good and way too negative when things aren't.
