Braxton Davidson is 1-26 with 18 Ks. I'm not even mad, that's just impressive.
Very nice to see Riley getting off to a good start. Having a RHed Jake Lamb at 3B will allow AA to spend more in LF and perhaps add a good BP arm.
Soroka is just being Soroka, the lowest risk 3+ win pitching prospect in the game.
I asked Braxton's dad a few years ago in Rome what kind of hitter Braxton wanted to be. He said contact and average....
It's crazy because he's so confused as a hitter that he's lost. Believe it or not he has good power. But he's always in an 0-2 hole before he swings. Nothing has changed his approach. He'll never realize contact or power.
I may have been low on Soroka. I had him clearly below Wright, and I thought Gohara passed him as well with his strong showing at the MLB level.
Now? I don't know what to think. Now, I may actually rank them Soroka, Gohara, Wright. Hell, Gohara may be 3rd because he may never shake the "out of shape injury prone pitcher" label.
One thing I have been consistent on is my assertion that Soroka is the lowest risk of all the pitching prospects. He is as close to a lock to be an average or better SP as there can be in MiLB, in my opinion. The only question is his ceiling, which appears to continue to rise.
I honestly think Wright still has the tools to be our best pitcher as far as being able to consistently dominate. To your point, we may have a 1a and 1b situation which is awesome to even think about. Gohara can be as good as he wants to be, but relying on hot-pockets and twizzlers for body shaping isn't helping him.
