The Rangers says they hope to bring him back next season, but had to release him now so that, if they did re-sign him, he would be able to be activated before May 15 of 2017.
I'm not saying rush out to sign him; I'm saying give him a physical and assess his knee. What have you got to lose? Hamilton, who played in only 50 games last year and none this year, is only 32 -- but he is clean. He is still tested more heaviiy than anyone in baseball.
