Then why is it understood that it was his idea to call up Swanson when he was not doing anything to even deserve a promotion to AAA last year?

Usually GMs say so and so will be a big part of the future. He said that with Acuna and Swanson. He said that regarding a number of pitchers. He talked about Ozzie for a while and didn't say he was going to be the 2B of the future. Even poked holes in his game, saying they want to see if the bat will play, notably from the left side

Even if he's not your prototypical guy that you want at 2nd (why not considering that they're old school?) you have to be flexible and let him prove that he can be a part of your core.
This FO has proven over and over that they don't know how to properly evaluate major league talent. They probably don't know what a potential gem Albies is.

I would bet a decent amount of $ that they would value Kemp more highly than Albies

I don't care if Albies struggles the rest of the way since he's 20, but I don't really understand how a .292/.358/.420 line across AA/AAA at 19 and a .285/.330/.440 line at 20 in AAA gets translated into "we're not sure about him, we need to see more".

Especially because he was able to struggle and adjust in AAA which is big for young players.

Well, he specifically said Swanson was NOT ready shortly before they did call him up, so I'm not sure why he took the L for that one. But Coppy said it never occurred to him to promote Swanson so there must have been someone thinking it was a good idea.

Specifically, he questioned whether the adjustments Albies has made from the left hand side will play at the major league level. Given I heard Chipper Jones raise the exact same concern a couple of months ago, I'm going to take a flyer and say it might be something worth a little bit of worry.

I think I trust guys who have been in baseball for most of their lives to be able to look beyond the stat line on fangraphs to maybe see what might struggle at the MLB level.

Is there any data for him hitting righty v righty pitchers? Seems like if hitting LH is a problem they would tell him to go all RH for a while just to see how he does.

I didn't see the Hart interview but how much of his downing playing guys do you think is in part to Dansby sucking this year? IMO Dansby is a bit of an embarrassment to the player development staff.
I hate to get negative but the rebuild is in year 3 and we are yet to see a guy come from the farm that has shown he can be a good MLB regular.

If a guy doesn't emerge in the next 12 months I think there will be some real pressure on the front office.

It's not Dansbys fault he was rushed and wasn't ready. That's on the Braves. If they will slow down and quit being so aggressive it would go a lot better. They think if you're 19 you should be ready for AAA and that's just not true.

Acuna was managed perfectly. They didn't promote him during a slump, he had begun to destroy AA again before he got promoted. The point he gets called up to MLB this year will be when I go against them with how he's been handled.

Be aggressive, but don't be stupid.

To be fair I would say.... They think if you are performing well in AA, being 19 should not disqualify you from moving to AAA. That is very different than saying if you're 19 you should be ready for AAA.

The Braves are the eastern version of the Mariners when it comes to hitting prospects. You have to be really talented to be able to cancel them out. I think Acuna and Albies (a few at bats doesn't change anything) are, but Swanson really has to max out his tools to be able to do well and the Braves won't help him do it.

He can have all of the intangibles that FO people love, but it doesn't matter, he needs to max out his tools or he's an average player at best.

Any reason Teheran came out with such a low pitch count?

Just because you're a slick fielding 3B, that doesn't mean you are fast.

An exceptionally bold move by Washington to try and have Freddie score from 2nd on an infield single

Freddie probably gave himself green light.

in his defense the offense isn't doing much anyways.
