Chicago is definitely in need of rotation upgrades. Now with price off the board do they turn to the trade market, step up for greinke, or drop to a lower tier player?

    Just the Cubs really.

my thoughts exactly. And 20 teams aren't getting Cueto and Greinke - the only two that really compares with Miller that's left.

I saw on the mlb network that the Giants are really after Greinke. If that were to happen then the 2 teams with the most to offer will come for Shelby.

Same.. that would put a ton of pressure on the Dodger.. two division rivals getting the best two FA pitchers left. I can't see how the Dodgers, with all that money, is not going to pay Zack a boat load to keep him.. Giants may be just bidding him up at this point...

Even if SF got Greinke, and someone else got Cueto, yall act like LA would panic and go for Shelby like there's not any good SP's left on the market.

Like they arent loaded with money.

Not really, I just believe it could potentially help our situation. Having people we don't much up with sign people away from people we match up with is useful.

they have money, but they can't buy pitchers from other teams. No team thinking about contending is going to trade their best pitcher to the Dodgers who is also thinking about contending... sure they can trade talent for jose in Miami or matz in Ny.. but they would probably have to send a nice haul to do so. No more or less than they would have to send to the Braves. All the money in the world is not going to do you any good if there are no pitchers to buy.

No i'm saying if they lose out on them, there's still FA options.

Kazmir, Shark, Lackey, Fister, Gallarado, Iwakuma, Chen, Leake, etc.

    THAT

lol. Miller is way better than any and they would need to contend with the Giants then.

Agreed. I'd take Miller over all of those guys. And some require a draft pick. After Greinke, Miller is the best available pitcher.

Not necessarily. I could almost see this becoming that situation where Boston (especially with Dombrowski at the helm since he's never been shy about trading prospects) actually might step up and move a player like Moncada. I still don't think it's very likely, but if you're in their shoes do you consider giving up Moncada if the Braves would take Allen Craig's money back? Would you give up Andrew Benintendi if the Braves would take Clay Buchholz' money back?
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

It doesn't sound as if the money's the issue with the Dodgers and Greinke. Apparently he REALLY doesn't like having Puig as a teammate according to multiple reports.

I take Miller over Cueto any day of the week and twice on Sunday....Cueto is an injury risk and you know the dollars he is looking for....you have 3 years left with Miller with good numbers, good track record of health, AND cost affordable.

If Moncada were on the table, I'd take any dead money they want to give up.

I would say it depends on the price. Dollar price for Cueto, and prospect price for Miller.

    None of them cost prospects.
