    Chris Stewart traded to Arizona

For cash or a PTBNL. I assume this frees up a 40 man spot for Riley.

Probably instead for Rivera, the third-stringer they just acquired to upgrade over Stewart? I don’t think he had a spot on the forty until now.

Stewart had been DFA'd before the Rivera trade freeing up that spot. So this has nothing to do with Riley. It's just an upgrade at your third catcher position (basically we traded Stewart for Rivera).

Good call: Stewart’d already been DFA’d, and the spot was already slotted for Rivera.

Stewart is good defensively but like RF he brings little to nothing with the bat, Rivera has a little pop in his bat and is a good pitch framer and better at throwing out runners than Stewart or our current starting catchers. So this was a wise upgrade to our bench at third catcher.

I’ve been really impressed with Anthopoulos’ moves around the margins. Of course his only “big” swing (for Gausman) has worked out pretty well, too—but even that appeared quasi-marginal initially, before dude stepped up in the rotation.

Yea, I think AA has done well given our budget. I still hate letting Murphy go past us and to the Cubs, but that isn't AA's fault about the money. Speaking of the Cubs, I saw the Cubs had to settle for light hitting Bobby Wilson as their third catcher with us claiming Rivera before them. Rivera has thrown out 44% of runners this year btw.

AA has been doing great work. Still hard to believe the Braves are where they are this far in the season.
