Everybody loved the great obama. They knew he could be pushed around. To defend any aspect of Obama foreign policy or relations is a joke. He threw gas on a fire that was already started. But it was a ****load of gas.

Trump tells the crowd in Pennsylvania that if they don't elect Rick Saccone, Democrats "are gonna take away your 2nd Amendment rights."

A reminder that 2 weeks ago, Trump suggested confiscating people's guns w/o due process.

Trump says things in the heat of the moment that are wrong. It's not a good quality but it actually endears him to tens of millions of people. He isn't a rehearsed empty suit like all before him. Mock that all you want but that's why you didn't see the election results coming. There will be more trumps in the future. People are sick of the idea you have to act a certain way to achieve results.

Iran had set up a $400 million trust fund for such purchases, which was frozen along with diplomatic relations in 1979. In settling the claim, which had been tied up at the Hague Tribunal since 1981, the U.S. is returning the money in the fund along with "a roughly $1.3 billion compromise on the interest," the statement said.

Another official said discussions on this claim had occurred in "fits and starts for three decades," and that the settlement, "reduced a significant risk of liability."

Administration officials dismissed that notion, suggesting U.S. taxpayers might have faced a much larger payout if the case hadn't been settled between the parties.

The announcement of this action comes as the U.S. is imposing new sanction on Iran over ballistic missile testing, and just one day after a deal was announced to exchange four imprisoned American citizens for seven Iranians in U.S. detention.

Sure. You could call it a lie. I think the intent to deceive I'd how you define a lie but whatever. Just continue your fake outrage as you see the ship sailing by for good.

I could bold that bit and size it up a few notches and we could pretend it was a tweet.

That might translate.

Hawk It's kind of a tell when you, who are well-informed on so many subjects touching this issue, and devastatingly cynical in many instances, affect naïveté.

Drawing a parallel between the current situation in Korea and that time a few years ago when we paid Iran $2 billion dollars (cash; not even properly accounting for the untold sums which flowed in after the removal of international financial sanctions against the country) to take a 1 year break from militarizing is ... misguided.

I get it, you wanted to take a cavalier swipe at Trump, but still.

or you could read the article - understand what transpired and move on

being the Trump apologist you've become it is surprising you have trouble with
"negotiated settlement"
or "interest"
or negotiations that have lasted decades

but hey, that's the world of CNN sourcing
How the mighty have fallen

I am not and have not been drawing a parallel between the respective international situations, I'm drawing attention to Trump's predictably impulsive and self-centered stunt. If that's cavalier, so be it. I look forward to an actual defense of Trump's action rather than a relitigation of Obama/Iran. I understand the case against the Iran deal, and I also think you're mischaracterizing it. Neither fact is relevant, IMO.

No, I just correct you because I still have hope for you. Your jealousy/hatred of him is all based on the us vs them metric and not in reality. You can say you disagreed with is politics, but you take it to fantasyland.

I actually wanted Hillary in '08. I thought Obama was too young and inexperienced, but he learned fast, and yes, I grew to admire him and his style. He wasn't as hawkish as some would have like but you have to remember he took over in the middle of a major foreign policy disaster with 2 wars going and a spent military. Of course he is viewed poorly by people who regard any diplomacy short of in your face belligerence as passive and weak.

On the other hand, the idea that Obama is history's greatest villain for pushing the Iranian nuke timeline back several years while Trump is a big winner for rewarding NK with a front-end gift of something that should be an end product of negotiation and not a conversation-starter is pretty rich.
No parallel. No parallel.
