Chopping With The Braves And Rolling With The Tide

At least he's crying in his mugshot. Or it looks like he tears. He should feel bad...

Honestly that contract isn't that bad, 6.5 per year isn't awful as far as throw away contracts go these days.
Make no mistake its obviously a waste of resources, but the only saving grace with Olive right now is that the Dodgers absorbed half his contract.

kinda ironic with Kobe being celebrated like he is today.
The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is to make sure he doesn’t get a gun.

But remember, the Johns know best.
I've started thinking more about the circumstances surrounding this. It's about 6 AM on a Wednesday morning and doesn't appear that Hector had been to bed yet and had allegedly been drinking. Even without the alleged assault, that's not really what I want to see from a player. You've got a contract paying you tens of millions of dollars. Just go to bed. If you want to drink all night and not go to bed until daybreak, save if for the offseason. Or better yet, save it for when you retire.
I'm not saying players have to go straight to the hotel after the game and go to bed. Just behave a little more responsibly.

I wonder how Bobby's DV incident would have been handled if it were today.
Forever Fredi
If I were in charge I would not cut cut Hector because of this. That's being to kind to him. If he gets cut he walks away with 30 million and will be picked by another team quickly at league minimum. What kind of punishment is that.
I would send him down to the most miserable level of the minor leagues and make him play his way back up. Future conduct would be a big factor in his progression. He needs to prove himself worthy of a spot in the team
I wonder if this type behavior was the reason he left winter league ball early.
A few years ago one of our top prospects that had fallen out of favor was sent to the lower minor leagues to switch from 3B to pitcher. His name was Van Pope. He went down. Got caught with team mates underage drinking. Bye bye Van Pope. The Braves do not want that kind of negativity near the developing players.
Get off my lawn!

I guess I never knew that about Pope. I thought his career ended because he sucked.

Worst trade in the John Hart era id say.
Coincidentally, I just ran across this crazy post from yesterday in a comics forum that I frequent:
