Good to see Snit give Muk the day off. Day game after a night game with a lefty on the mound. Makes a lot of sense. He needs to do this with Muk/Kemp/Phillips to keep them fresh.

However, I have a nit to pick with Snit on giving Phillips the game off. That should have been last night with Lackey (a righty Phillips has not hit well) on the mound.

Looking at the Facebook comments under the Braves site where they posted the lineup today. It's such a train wreck that I have to keep looking and laughing at all of the casual fans who know nothing. They are complaining about Phillips, Adams, and Markakis getting a day off today. One guy complained that we were throwing in the towel. Please tell me these fans don't believe we have a chance at the playoffs...

yep.. but I think Snit's had to ride the hot hand. which is why we will never win with him.

I know Mr. BABIP is young, but I wish he'd work on his discipline and draw more walks. He is hitting in the important OBP (#2) spot today, so drawing walks will only help him and the club. He is drawing walks at a 4% rate while striking out at a 21% rate.

Never underestimate snit's ability to detect the hot hand. Snitker is German for thermometer

what he has to realize with guys like Kemp and Phillips is that they wear down...it is harder to give them a day off when they are hot...but that's the best way to keep them playing at their peak capacity

Yeah, he's not a #2 hitter. But we really don't have an ideal #2 hitter on the roster or in today's lineup.

Edit: Actually my spreadsheet says Flowers hitting second makes sense. But the Braves are not the sort of team willing to contemplate such a thing.

Why can't they show DRS (Heyward leading big time), WAR (Heyward leading big time), Slugging Percentage, Triples, SB, etc.? It's fun to cherry-pick statistics to pander to the clueless casuals.
    They could show salary too.

I really like how Bryant is used in the 2 hole in Chicago's lineup.

We should ask Gwinnett this question.

As opposed to the ones here who think the Braves are gearing up for a playoff push?
