media coverage of heinous crimes is to be expected, it's gonna warrant hits but it gets hits cause it is absolutely fascinating to try to understand a monster.

same reason why most watch things about serial killers etc.

they are so different than most it's interesting to try to understand how they got there

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

PARKLAND, FL—In the hours following a violent rampage in Florida in which a lone attacker killed 17 individuals and seriously injured over a dozen others, citizens living in the only country where this kind of mass killing routinely occurs reportedly concluded Wednesday that there was no way to prevent the massacre from taking place. “This was a terrible tragedy, but sometimes these things just happen and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them,” said Indiana resident Harold Turner, echoing sentiments expressed by tens of millions of individuals who reside in a nation where over half of the world’s deadliest mass shootings have occurred in the past 50 years and whose citizens are 20 times more likely to die of gun violence than those of other developed nations. “It’s a shame, but what can we do? There really wasn’t anything that was going to keep this individual from snapping and killing a lot of people if that’s what they really wanted.” At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past eight years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”

Good thing schools instituted a zero tolerance policy to stop these shootings. If only someone had expelled this kid when he had plastic army men on his birthday cake in kindergarten this could have all been prevented. Zero tolerance policy hasn't prevented one school shooting yet schools double down on it. It is time to end these ridiculous policies.

I would love both democratic and Republicans policy makers to each offer their own policy solutions to counter this growing pandemic. Too bad we will all get locked in a weird stalemate where each side argues ideologies based on a 200 year old amendment and the value of prayer.

    It’s embarassing... on both sides.
Show me the politician that has actually told us what they wanted to do when they say 'common sense gun laws'.

You still haven't given us a solution. You just rail on guns. So tell us...what would you do?

you say over and over no one has any solutions

Read the text. 125 pages, that should keep you away from the keyboard for a day or two.

Can you tell me how this '125 page bill', which us in effect just a long appendix, stops this school shooting? I'll wait for a nonresponse.

Yes something that could easily be asked in a PM to SAV was asked in a public forum for no reason. Ahh...so predictable. Now that all your wacky conspiracy theories are coming undone it's hard to face the truth so it's easier to just retreat to your echo chamber. Sounds like you need some playdoh

I'd bet a good amount of money you didn't read it yourself. But can you give us the summary of how it stops this event?

I think parenting is the most underrated factor. Both parents are working now in most two parent families, then many of them come home and don't have (or aren't willing to put forth) the energy needed to be involved with their kids. It's much more relaxing to scroll Facebook or binge Netflix while the kid hides in their room with a tablet or smartphone.

I deal with sweet kids all the time who are starved for attention. One of the kids I coached this year was excited after making his first shot in a game. He turned around to see what his parents said and saw both of them looking down at their phone instead. I watched his expression transform from pure joy to complete sadness. Enough of those experiences turn a sweet 5 year old into a cynical 8 year old. I see it happen. What happens when the 5 year old wasn't such a sweet kid? What does that kid turn into when he's 8, or 12, or 15?
Jaw I think you nailed it.

But it's easier to blame guns than to take personal responsibility

Of course he didnt. The majority of the bill is a listing of guns. It's a weak bill with nothing that addresses any specific shooting.

Why would we want to do that? It's much easier to get the free hand out and blame others for your problems.

Yep. Let's just prescribe aspirin for the headaches instead of doing surgery for the brain tumor.

It's sad watching people ask the government to solve problems when they have a history of making things far worse the harder they try to fix things.
