    Eric Thames looks like a great pick-up for the Brewers, too bad we didn't go for him as he can play OF along with 1B. He looks like a legit power hitter with good patience now.

    To me Thames was a no-brainer low risk high reward option. Still think he will be exposed more as the book gets out on him.

    I agree, but I also think he has improved a lot with his patience spitting on the balls outside and he always had the pop so he should be a good power hitter as long as that continues.

    Jason Castro returning to his normal putrid offensive production. Glad we have Flowers instead.

    Hindsight is 20/20, but I'd rather have Castro than Suzuki or Colon. I liked the Colon signing at the time, but it did seem like him, Dickey, and Garcia were a bit overkill considering our minor league pitching depth.

    Remember some being upset we didn't take a flyer on Latos:

    Blue Jays designated RHP Mat Latos for assignment.

    Latos put up a 6.60 ERA in three unsuccessful starts for the Jays. He'll clear waivers but will almost surely elect free agency. Latos is still just 29 but it's been a few years since he's had any real success in the majors.

    If he is willing to go to AAA for 10-15 starts, he is still worth a look.

    Did anybody ever even mention him as a possibility?

    Thames asked to play everyday when he was trying to get a team to sign him. Not sure that was a possibility here.

    As usual, you were right on the money with this one.

    Jason Castro in 91 games...
    fWAR = 1.0
    bWAR = 2.0

    Suzuki in 60 games...
    fWAR = 1.7
    bWAR = 1.8

    Castro salary = 8.5 million
    Suzuki salary = 1.5 million

    Let it be known that Enscheff approved of the Colon signing and wanted Castro... but he's never wrong...

    This is what he had to say about the original Olivera trade: "I don't think this was a good trade, but it was far from the disaster the chicken littles around here are making it out to be."

    You can't seriously fault people who go back and pull up things you said, when you constantly do that with other posters.

    It's funny because it has no relevance to what we are discussing. When I go look things up it is pertinent to what we are actually discussing. Southcrack was desperately searching for anything he could find where I was wrong.

    What he found was me preferring Castro (who has produced exactly as expected) to Suzuki (who has had unsustainable success due to an inflated HR/FB rate).

    And now you all jump in excitedly to pat each other On the back.

    Like I said, adorable haha.
